You plan great things and you do mighty deeds.<n id="1" /> You see everything people do.<n id="2" /> You reward each of them for the way they live and for the things they do.<n id="3" />

You and your people<n id="1" /> are saying that this land will become desolate, uninhabited by either people or animals. You are saying that it will be handed over to the Babylonians.<n id="2" /> But fields<n id="3" /> will again be bought in this land.<n id="4" />

<p class="poetry">Edom will be destroyed like Sodom and Gomorrahp> <p class="poetry">and the towns that were around them.p> <p class="poetry">No one will live there.p> <p class="poetry">No human being will settle in it,&#8221;p> <p class="poetry">says the <sc>Lordsc>.p>

<p class="poetry">&#8220;Hazor will become a permanent wasteland,p> <p class="poetry">a place where only jackals live.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">No one will live there.p> <p class="poetry">No human being will settle in it.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">All idolaters will prove to be stupid and ignorant.p> <p class="poetry">Every goldsmith will be disgraced by the idol he made.p> <p class="poetry">For the image he forges is merely a sham.p> <p class="poetry">There is no breath in any of those idols.p>

<p class="poetry">The towns of Babylonia have become heaps of ruins.p> <p class="poetry">She has become a dry and barren desert.p> <p class="poetry">No one lives in those towns any more.p> <p class="poetry">No one even passes through them.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Their faces had this appearance: Each of the four had the face of a man, with the face of a lion on the right, the face of an ox on the left and also the face of an eagle.<n id="1" />

Above the platform over their heads was something like a sapphire shaped like a throne. High above on the throne was a form that appeared to be a man.

<p class="bodytext">He said to me, &#8220;Son of man, eat what you see in front of you<n id="1" /> &#8211; eat this scroll &#8211; and then go and speak to the house of Israel.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">And he said to me, &#8220;Son of man, take all my words that I speak to you to heart and listen carefully.

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;And you, son of man, take a brick<n id="1" /> and set it in front of you. Inscribe<n id="2" /> a city on it &#8211; Jerusalem.

<p class="bodytext">Then he said to me, &#8220;Son of man, I am about to remove the bread supply<n id="1" /> in Jerusalem.<n id="2" /> They will eat their bread ration anxiously, and they will drink their water ration in terror

&#8220;You, son of man &#8211; this is what the sovereign <sc>Lordsc> says to the land of Israel: An end! The end is coming on the four corners of the land!<n id="1" />

Each of the cherubim<n id="1" /> had four faces: The first was the face of a cherub,<n id="2" /> the second that of a man, the third that of a lion, and the fourth that of an eagle.p>

The <sc>Lordsc><n id="1" /> said to me, &#8220;Son of man, these are the men who plot evil and give wicked advice in this city.

&#8220;Son of man, what is this proverb you have in the land of Israel, &#8216;The days pass slowly, and every vision fails&#8217;?

&#8220;Take note, son of man, the house of Israel is saying, &#8216;The vision that he sees is for distant days; he is prophesying about the far future.&#8217;

&#8220;Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to the prophets who prophesy from their imagination:<n id="1" /> &#8216;Hear the word of the <sc>Lordsc>!

&#8220;Son of man, these men have erected their idols in their hearts and placed the obstacle leading to their iniquity<n id="1" /> right before their faces. Should I really allow them to seek<n id="2" /> me?

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Or suppose I were to bring a sword against that land and say, &#8216;Let a sword pass through the land,&#8217; and I were to kill both people and animals.
