The days of our lives add up to seventy years, ¹  or eighty, if one is especially strong. ²  But even one’s best years are marred by trouble and oppression. ³  Yes, ⁴  they pass quickly ⁵  and we fly away. ⁶ 

Noah went out along with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives.

Then they came to Elim, ¹  where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees, and they camped there by the water.

He had forty sons and thirty grandsons who rode on seventy donkeys. He led Israel for eight years.

So the Lord delivered Israel that day, and the battle shifted over to Beth Aven. ¹ 

Solomon also had 70,000 common laborers ¹  and 80,000 stonecutters ²  in the hills,

and set up in it a place for the ark containing the covenant the Lord made with the Israelites.”

“‘When you allot the land as an inheritance, you will offer an allotment ¹  to the Lord, a holy portion from the land; the length will be eight and a quarter miles ²  and the width three and one-third miles. ³  This entire area will be holy. ⁴ 

It contained the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered entirely with gold. In this ark ¹  were the golden urn containing the manna, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant.

Counting the two sons ¹  of Joseph who were born to him in Egypt, all the people of the household of Jacob who were in Egypt numbered seventy. ² 

They took forty days, for that is the full time needed for embalming. ¹  The Egyptians mourned ²  for him seventy days. ³ 

You are to put the atonement lid on top of the ark, and in the ark you are to put the testimony I am giving you.

The length of each ¹  curtain is to be forty-two feet, and the width of each curtain is to be six feet ²  – the same size for each of the curtains.

He took the testimony and put it in the ark, attached the poles to the ark, and then put the atonement lid on the ark.

The men whom Moses sent to investigate the land, who returned and made the whole community murmur against him by producing ¹  an evil report about the land,

“‘On the tenth day of this seventh month you are to have a holy assembly. You must humble yourselves; ¹  you must not do any work on it.

They traveled from Marah and came to Elim; in Elim there are twelve fountains of water and seventy palm trees, so they camped there.

When your ancestors went down to Egypt, they numbered only seventy, but now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of the sky. ¹ 

A person of illegitimate birth ¹  may not enter the assembly of the Lord; to the tenth generation no one related to him may do so. ²
