Then he will send angels and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven. ¹ 

I tell you the truth, ¹  wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

But Peter ¹  insisted emphatically, ²  “Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you.” And all of them said the same thing.

And Peter had followed him from a distance, up to the high priest’s courtyard. He ¹  was sitting with the guards ²  and warming himself by the fire.

Then ¹  the high priest stood up before them ²  and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer? What is this that they are testifying against you?”

In the same way even the chief priests – together with the experts in the law ¹  – were mocking him among themselves: ²  “He saved others, but he cannot save himself!

When they were not able to bring him in because of the crowd, they removed the roof ¹  above Jesus. ²  Then, ³  after tearing it out, they lowered the stretcher the paralytic was lying on.

And no one pours new wine into old wineskins; ¹  otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins will be destroyed. Instead new wine is poured into new wineskins.” ² 

After looking around ¹  at them in anger, grieved by the hardness of their hearts, ²  he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. ³ 

so that although they look they may look but not see, and although they hear they may hear but not understand, so they may not repent and be forgiven.” ¹ 

Then ¹  he cried out with a loud voice, “Leave me alone, ²  Jesus, Son of the Most High God! I implore you by God ³  – do not torment me!”

They came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed man sitting there, clothed and in his right mind – the one who had the “Legion” – and they were afraid.

He said to them, “Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart ¹  is far from me.

After Jesus ¹  left there, he went to the region of Tyre. ²  When he went into a house, he did not want anyone to know, but ³  he was not able to escape notice.

Then ¹  he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. After he took the seven loaves and gave thanks, he broke them and began giving them to the disciples to serve. So ²  they served the crowd.

You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.’” ¹ 

“Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and experts in the law. ¹  They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles.

They came to Jericho. ¹  As Jesus ²  and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.
