All<n id="1" /> who heard these things<n id="2" /> kept them in their hearts,<n id="3" /> saying, &#8220;What then will this child be?&#8221;<n id="4" /> For the Lord&#8217;s hand<n id="5" /> was indeed with him.p>

For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me.<n id="1" /> I say to this one, &#8216;Go,&#8217; and he goes,<n id="2" /> and to another, &#8216;Come,&#8217; and he comes, and to my slave, &#8216;Do this,&#8217; and he does it.&#8221;<n id="3" />

But they did not understand this statement; its meaning<n id="1" /> had been concealed<n id="2" /> from them, so that they could not grasp it. Yet<n id="3" /> they were afraid to ask him about this statement.p>

&#8216;Even the dust of your town<n id="1" /> that clings to our feet we wipe off<n id="2" /> against you.<n id="3" /> Nevertheless know this: The kingdom of God has come.&#8217;<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> said to his<n id="3" /> disciples, &#8220;Therefore I tell you, do not worry<n id="4" /> about your<n id="5" /> life, what you will eat, or about your<n id="6" /> body, what you will wear.

But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief<n id="1" /> was coming, he would not have let<n id="2" /> his house be broken into.

So<n id="1" /> he called the manager<n id="2" /> in and said to him, &#8216;What is this I hear about you?<n id="3" /> Turn in the account of your administration,<n id="4" /> because you can no longer be my manager.&#8217;

But Jesus<n id="1" /> looked straight at them and said, &#8220;Then what is the meaning of that which is written: &#8216;<b><i>The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstonei>b>&#8217;?<n id="2" />

For I tell you that this scripture must be<n id="1" /> fulfilled in me, &#8216;<b><i>And he was counted with the transgressorsi>b>.&#8217;<n id="2" /> For what is written about me is being fulfilled.&#8221;<n id="3" />

So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture<n id="1" /> and the saying<n id="2" /> that Jesus had spoken.p>

For this reason the Jewish leaders<n id="1" /> were trying even harder to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was also calling God his own Father, thus making himself equal with God.p>

Now this is the will of the one who sent me &#8211; that I should not lose one person of every one he has given me, but raise them all up<n id="1" /> at the last day.

For this is the will of my Father &#8211; for everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him to have eternal life, and I will raise him up<n id="1" /> at the last day.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Now my soul is greatly distressed. And what should I say? &#8216;Father, deliver me<n id="1" /> from this hour&#8217;?<n id="2" /> No, but for this very reason I have come to this hour.<n id="3" />

If you belonged to the world,<n id="1" /> the world would love you as its own.<n id="2" /> However, because you do not belong to the world,<n id="3" /> but I chose you out of the world, for this reason<n id="4" /> the world hates you.<n id="5" />

<p class="bodytext">Then some of his disciples said to one another, &#8220;What is the meaning of what he is saying,<n id="1" /> &#8216;In a little while you<n id="2" /> will not see me; again after a little while, you<n id="3" /> will see me,&#8217; and, &#8216;because I am going to the Father&#8217;?&#8221;<n id="4" />

Pilate asked,<n id="1" /> &#8220;What is truth?&#8221;<n id="2" />p> <p class="bodytext">When he had said this he went back outside to the Jewish leaders<n id="3" /> and announced,<n id="4" /> &#8220;I find no basis for an accusation<n id="5" /> against him.

Jesus replied, &#8220;You would have no authority<n id="1" /> over me at all, unless it was given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you<n id="2" /> is guilty of greater sin.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">But Peter stood up<n id="1" /> with the eleven, raised his voice, and addressed them: &#8220;You men of Judea<n id="2" /> and all you who live in Jerusalem,<n id="3" /> know this<n id="4" /> and listen carefully to what I say.

So then, exalted<n id="1" /> to the right hand<n id="2" /> of God, and having received<n id="3" /> the promise of the Holy Spirit<n id="4" /> from the Father, he has poured out<n id="5" /> what you both see and hear.
