So God brought the people around by the way of the desert to the Red Sea,<n id="1" /> and the Israelites went up from the land of Egypt prepared for battle.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="bodytext">But the <sc>Lordsc> hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he chased after the Israelites. Now the Israelites were going out defiantly.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites, &#8220;In the evening<n id="1" /> you will know that the <sc>Lordsc> has brought you out of the land of Egypt,

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;You must not oppress<n id="1" /> a foreigner, since you know the life<n id="2" /> of a foreigner, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.p>

and they will know that I am the <sc>Lordsc> their God, who brought them out from the land of Egypt, so that I may reside among them. I am the <sc>Lordsc> their God.p>

He accepted the gold<n id="1" /> from them,<n id="2" /> fashioned<n id="3" /> it with an engraving tool, and made a molten calf.<n id="4" /> Then they said, &#8220;These are your gods,<n id="5" /> O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> spoke to Moses: &#8220;Go quickly, descend,<n id="1" /> because your<n id="2" /> people, whom you brought up from the land of Egypt, have acted corruptly.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;You must keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days<n id="1" /> you must eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you; do this<n id="2" /> at the appointed time of the month Abib, for in the month Abib you came out of Egypt.p>

for I am the <sc>Lordsc> who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God,<n id="1" /> and you are to be holy because I am holy.

The foreigner who resides with you must be to you like a native citizen among you; so<n id="1" /> you must love him as yourself, because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

You must have honest balances,<n id="1" /> honest weights, an honest ephah, and an honest hin.<n id="2" /> I am the <sc>Lordsc> your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt.

so that your future generations may know that I made the Israelites live in temporary shelters when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am the <sc>Lordsc> your God.&#8217;&#8221;p>

I am the <sc>Lordsc> your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan &#8211; to be your God.<n id="1" />p>

because the Israelites are my own servants;<n id="1" /> they are my servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt. I am the <sc>Lordsc> your God.p>

I am the <sc>Lordsc> your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, from being their slaves,<n id="1" /> and I broke the bars of your yoke and caused you to walk upright.<n id="2" />p>

I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors<n id="1" /> whom I brought out from the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their God. I am the <sc>Lordsc>.&#8217;&#8221;p>

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">Now the <sc>Lordsc><n id="2" /> spoke<n id="3" /> to Moses in the tent of meeting<n id="4" /> in the wilderness<n id="5" /> of Sinai<n id="6" /> on the first day of the second month of the second year after<n id="7" /> the Israelites<n id="8" /> departed from the land of Egypt.<n id="9" /> He said:<n id="10" />

For all the firstborn males among the Israelites are mine, both humans and animals; when I destroyed<n id="1" /> all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I set them apart for myself.

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out<n id="2" /> of the land of Egypt:p>

We remember<n id="1" /> the fish we used to eat<n id="2" /> freely<n id="3" /> in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.
