There will never cease to be some poor people in the land; therefore, I am commanding you to make sure you open<n id="1" /> your hand to your fellow Israelites<n id="2" /> who are needy and poor in your land.p>

and then you are careful to observe all these commandments<n id="1" /> I am giving<n id="2" /> you today (namely, to love the <sc>Lordsc> your God and to always walk in his ways), then you must add three more cities<n id="3" /> to these three.

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;If you indeed<n id="1" /> obey the <sc>Lordsc> your God and are careful to observe all his commandments I am giving<n id="2" /> you today, the <sc>Lordsc> your God will elevate you above all the nations of the earth.

The <sc>Lordsc> will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always end up at the top and not at the bottom, if you obey his<n id="1" /> commandments which I am urging<n id="2" /> you today to be careful to do.

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;But if you ignore<n id="1" /> the <sc>Lordsc> your God and are not careful to keep all his commandments and statutes I am giving you today, then all these curses will come upon you in full force:<n id="2" />

What<n id="1" /> I am commanding you today is to love the <sc>Lordsc> your God, to walk in his ways, and to obey his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances. Then you will live and become numerous and the <sc>Lordsc> your God will bless you in the land which you are about to possess.<n id="2" />

He said to them, &#8220;Today I am a hundred and twenty years old. I am no longer able to get about,<n id="1" /> and the <sc>Lordsc> has said to me, &#8216;You will not cross the Jordan.&#8217;

and the <sc>Lordsc><n id="1" /> commissioned Joshua son of Nun, &#8220;Be strong and courageous, for you will take the Israelites to the land I have promised them, and I will be with you.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

for I know about your rebellion and stubbornness.<n id="1" /> Indeed, even while I have been living among you to this very day, you have rebelled against the <sc>Lordsc>; you will be even more rebellious after my death!<n id="2" />

he said to them, &#8220;Keep in mind all the words I am solemnly proclaiming to you today; you must command your children to observe carefully all the words of this law.

&#8220;Moses my servant is dead. Get ready!<n id="1" /> Cross the Jordan River!<n id="2" /> Lead these people into the land which I am ready to hand over to them.<n id="3" />

When he saw her, he ripped his clothes and said, &#8220;Oh no! My daughter! You have completely ruined me!<n id="1" /> You have brought me disaster!<n id="2" /> I made an oath to the <sc>Lord,sc> and I cannot break it.&#8221;<n id="3" />
