But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but ¹  the Spirit is your life ²  because of righteousness.

For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, ¹  but you received the Spirit of adoption, ²  by whom ³  we cry, “Abba, Father.”

Indeed, he who ¹  did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?

It is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all those who are descended from Israel are truly Israel, ¹ 

But what if God, willing to demonstrate his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience the objects ¹  of wrath ²  prepared for destruction? ³ 

And Isaiah cries out on behalf of Israel, “Though the number of the children ¹  of Israel are as the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved,

For there is no distinction between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, who richly blesses all who call on him.

But I ask, have they ¹  not heard? ²  Yes, they have: ³  Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. ⁴ 

So I ask, God has not rejected his people, has he? Absolutely not! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.

And if it is by grace, it is no longer by works, otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

Do not avenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God’s wrath, ¹  for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” ²  says the Lord.

Let us live decently as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in discord and jealousy.

One person regards one day holier than other days, and another regards them all alike. ¹  Each must be fully convinced in his own mind.

For the kingdom of God does not consist of food and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

And again Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse will come, and the one who rises to rule over the Gentiles, in him will the Gentiles hope.” ¹ 

but as it is written: “Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.” ¹ 

But now there is nothing more to keep me ¹  in these regions, and I have for many years desired ²  to come to you

Therefore after I have completed this and have safely delivered this bounty to them, ¹  I will set out for Spain by way of you,

For these are the kind who do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By their smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds ¹  of the naive.
