<p class="poetry">But it was plucked up in anger; it was thrown down to the ground.p> <p class="poetry">The east wind<n id="1" /> dried up its fruit;p> <p class="poetry">its strong branches broke off and withered &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">a fire consumed them.p>

I will judge him with plague and bloodshed. I will rain down on him, his troops and the many peoples who are with him a torrential downpour, hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

Only the prince may sit in it to eat a sacrificial meal<n id="1" /> before the <sc>Lordsc>; he will enter by way of the porch of the gate and will go out by the same way.&#8221;p>

These will be the allotments for the holy portion: for the priests, toward the north eight and a quarter miles<n id="1" /> in length, toward the west three and one-third miles<n id="2" /> in width, toward the east three and one-third miles<n id="3" /> in width, and toward the south eight and a quarter miles<n id="4" /> in length; the sanctuary of the <sc>Lordsc> will be in the middle.

But this one from Israel&#8217;s royal family<n id="1" /> rebelled against the king of Babylon<n id="2" /> by sending his emissaries to Egypt to obtain horses and a large army. Will he prosper? Will the one doing these things escape? Can he break the covenant and escape?p>

You will advance<n id="1" /> against my people Israel like a cloud covering the earth. In the latter days I will bring you against my land so that the nations may acknowledge me, when before their eyes I magnify myself<n id="2" /> through you, O Gog.p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;&#8216;On that day I will assign Gog a grave in Israel. It will be the valley of those who travel east of the sea; it will block the way of the travelers. There they will bury Gog and all his horde; they will call it the valley of Hamon-Gog.<n id="1" />

Say, &#8216;Mountains of Israel,<n id="1" /> Hear the word of the sovereign <sc>Lordsc>!<n id="2" /> This is what the sovereign <sc>Lordsc> says to the mountains and the hills, to the ravines and the valleys: I am bringing<n id="3" /> a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.<n id="4" />

For when anyone from the house of Israel, or the foreigner who lives in Israel, separates himself from me and erects his idols in his heart and sets the obstacle leading to his iniquity before his face, and then consults a prophet to seek something from me, I the <sc>Lordsc> am determined to answer him personally.

They will attack<n id="1" /> you with weapons,<n id="2" /> chariots, wagons, and with a huge army;<n id="3" /> they will array themselves against you on every side with large shields, small shields, and helmets. I will assign them the task of judgment;<n id="4" /> they will punish you according to their laws.

I will turn the land of Egypt into a desolation in the midst of desolate lands; for forty years her cities will lie desolate in the midst of ruined cities. I will scatter Egypt among the nations and disperse them among foreign countries.p>

But you, son of man, do not fear them, and do not fear their words &#8211; even though briers<n id="1" /> and thorns<n id="2" /> surround you and you live among scorpions &#8211; do not fear their words and do not be terrified of the looks they give you,<n id="3" /> for they are a rebellious house!

<p class="bodytext">He said to me, &#8220;Do you see, son of man? Is it a trivial thing that the house of Judah commits these abominations they are practicing here? For they have filled the land with violence and provoked me to anger still further. Look, they are putting the branch to their nose!<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;As for you, son of man, this is what the sovereign <sc>Lordsc> says: Tell every kind of bird and every wild beast: &#8216;Assemble and come! Gather from all around to my slaughter<n id="1" /> which I am going to make for you, a great slaughter on the mountains of Israel! You will eat flesh and drink blood.

<t /><p class="bodytext">In the thirtieth year,<n id="1" /> on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was among the exiles<n id="2" /> at the Kebar River,<n id="3" /> the heavens opened<n id="4" /> and I saw a divine vision.<n id="5" />

I will shoot against them deadly,<n id="1" /> destructive<n id="2" /> arrows of famine,<n id="3" /> which I will shoot to destroy you.<n id="4" /> I will prolong a famine on you and will remove the bread supply.<n id="5" />

&#8220;Son of man, the ones living in these ruins in the land of Israel are saying, &#8216;Abraham was only one man, yet he possessed the land, but we are many; surely the land has been given to us for a possession.&#8217;<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;The remainder, one and two-thirds miles<n id="1" /> in width and eight and a quarter miles<n id="2" /> in length, will be for common use by the city, for houses and for open space. The city will be in the middle of it;

&#8220;Son of man, your brothers,<n id="1" /> your relatives,<n id="2" /> and the whole house of Israel, all of them are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem<n id="3" /> have said, &#8216;They have gone<n id="4" /> far away from the <sc>Lordsc>; to us this land has been given as a possession.&#8217;p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;The rest, on both sides of the holy allotment and the property of the city, will belong to the prince. Extending from the eight and a quarter miles<n id="1" /> of the holy allotment to the east border, and westward from the eight and a quarter miles<n id="2" /> to the west border, alongside the portions, it will belong to the prince. The holy allotment and the sanctuary of the temple will be in the middle of it.
