Then<n id="1" /> Jesus asked,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Who was it who touched me?&#8221; When they all denied it, Peter<n id="3" /> said, &#8220;Master, the crowds are surrounding you and pressing<n id="4" /> against you!&#8221;

Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;A man was going down<n id="2" /> from Jerusalem<n id="3" /> to Jericho,<n id="4" /> and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat<n id="5" /> him up, and went off, leaving him half dead.<n id="6" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> was praying in a certain place. When<n id="3" /> he stopped, one of his disciples said to him, &#8220;Lord, teach us to pray, just as John<n id="4" /> taught<n id="5" /> his disciples.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">As<n id="1" /> he said these things, a woman in the crowd spoke out<n id="2" /> to him, &#8220;Blessed is the womb<n id="3" /> that bore you and the breasts at which you nursed!&#8221;<n id="4" />

The Lord replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Who then is the faithful and wise manager,<n id="2" /> whom the master puts in charge of his household servants,<n id="3" /> to give them their allowance of food at the proper time?

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> told this parable: &#8220;A man had a fig tree<n id="3" /> planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on it and found none.

Or what king, going out to confront another king in battle, will not sit down<n id="1" /> first and determine whether he is able with ten thousand to oppose<n id="2" /> the one coming against him with twenty thousand?

&#8220;Which one<n id="1" /> of you, if he has a hundred<n id="2" /> sheep and loses one of them, would not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture<n id="3" /> and go look for<n id="4" /> the one that is lost until he finds it?<n id="5" />

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins<n id="1" /> and loses<n id="2" /> one of them,<n id="3" /> does not light a lamp, sweep<n id="4" /> the house, and search thoroughly until she finds it?

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jesus<n id="1" /> also said to the disciples, &#8220;There was a rich man who was informed of accusations<n id="2" /> that his manager<n id="3" /> was wasting<n id="4" /> his assets.

and said to him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Tell us: By what authority<n id="2" /> are you doing these things?<n id="3" /> Or who it is who gave you this authority?&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> this was<n id="2" /> John&#8217;s<n id="3" /> testimony<n id="4" /> when the Jewish leaders<n id="5" /> sent<n id="6" /> priests and Levites from Jerusalem<n id="7" /> to ask him, &#8220;Who are you?&#8221;<n id="8" />

<p class="bodytext">Jesus answered, &#8220;I tell you the solemn truth,<n id="1" /> unless a person is born of water and spirit,<n id="2" /> he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now he came again to Cana<n id="1" /> in Galilee where he had made the water wine.<n id="2" /> In<n id="3" /> Capernaum<n id="4" /> there was a certain royal official<n id="5" /> whose son was sick.

But there are some of you who do not believe.&#8221; (For Jesus had already known from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.)<n id="1" />

What did he mean by saying,<n id="1" /> &#8216;You will look for me<n id="2" /> but will not find me, and where I am you cannot come&#8217;?&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">On the last day of the feast, the greatest day,<n id="1" /> Jesus stood up and shouted out,<n id="2" /> &#8220;If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> the Judeans<n id="2" /> responded,<n id="3" /> &#8220;Now we know you&#8217;re possessed by a demon!<n id="4" /> Both Abraham and the prophets died, and yet<n id="5" /> you say, &#8216;If anyone obeys<n id="6" /> my teaching,<n id="7" /> he will never experience<n id="8" /> death.&#8217;<n id="9" />

But we do not know how he is now able to see, nor do we know who caused him to see.<n id="1" /> Ask him, he is a mature adult.<n id="2" /> He will speak for himself.&#8221;

(His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jewish religious leaders.<n id="1" /> For the Jewish leaders had already agreed that anyone who confessed Jesus<n id="2" /> to be the Christ<n id="3" /> would be put out<n id="4" /> of the synagogue.<n id="5" />
