Then the Levites (because they have no allotment or inheritance with you), the resident foreigners, the orphans, and the widows of your villages may come and eat their fill so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work you do.

They ¹  will devour the offspring of your livestock and the produce of your soil until you are destroyed. They will not leave you with any grain, new wine, olive oil, calves of your herds, ²  or lambs of your flocks ³  until they have destroyed you.

You said, “The Lord our God has shown us his great glory ¹  and we have heard him speak from the middle of the fire. It is now clear to us ²  that God can speak to human beings and they can keep on living.

butter from the herd and milk from the flock, along with the fat of lambs, rams and goats of Bashan, along with the best of the kernels of wheat; and from the juice of grapes you drank wine.

However, through all this you did not have confidence in the Lord your God,

You have been rebelling against him ¹  from the very first day I knew you!

If a false ¹  witness testifies against another person and accuses him of a crime, ²

The Lord will also subject you to madness, blindness, and confusion of mind. ¹ 

So the Lord our God did indeed give over to us King Og of Bashan and his whole army and we struck them down until not a single survivor was left. ¹ 

to dispossess nations greater and stronger than you and brought you here this day to give you their land as your property. ¹ 

Today realize and carefully consider that the Lord is God in heaven above and on earth below – there is no other!
