Saul selected for himself three thousand men from Israel. <p class="bodytext">Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice and they cut off Sheba&#8217;s head and threw it out to Joab. Joab<n id="1" /> blew the trumpet, and his men<n id="2" /> dispersed from the city, each going to his own home.<n id="3" /> Joab returned to the king in Jerusalem.p>

Zadok the priest took a horn filled with olive oil<n id="1" /> from the tent and poured it on<n id="2" /> Solomon; the trumpet was blown and all the people declared, &#8220;Long live King Solomon!&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">When the news reached Joab (for Joab had supported<n id="1" /> Adonijah, although he had not supported Absalom), he<n id="2" /> ran to the tent of the <sc>Lordsc> and grabbed hold of the horns of the altar.<n id="3" />

When King Solomon heard<n id="1" /> that Joab had run to the tent of the <sc>Lordsc> and was right there beside the altar, he ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Go, strike him down.&#8221;
