Then ¹  they came to Capernaum. ²  After Jesus ³  was inside the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?”

They will mock him, spit on him, flog ¹  him severely, and kill him. Yet ²  after three days, ³  he will rise again.”

They said to him, “Permit one of us to sit at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.”

Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So ¹  they called the blind man and said to him, “Have courage! Get up! He is calling you.”

Jesus said to him, “Go, your faith has healed you.” Immediately he regained ¹  his sight and followed him on the road.

Both those who went ahead and those who followed kept shouting, “Hosanna! ¹  Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! ² 

They discussed with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’

The expert in the law said to him, “That is true, Teacher; you are right to say that he is one, and there is no one else besides him. ¹ 

Now ¹  as Jesus ²  was going out of the temple courts, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, look at these tremendous stones and buildings!” ³ 

Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left on another. ¹  All will be torn down!” ² 

And if the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would be saved. But because of the elect, whom he chose, he has cut them ¹  short.

It ¹  could have been sold for more than three hundred silver coins ²  and the money ³  given to the poor!” So ⁴  they spoke angrily to her.

So ¹  the disciples left, went ²  into the city, and found things just as he had told them, ³  and they prepared the Passover.

But he was silent and did not answer. Again the high priest questioned him, ¹  “Are you the Christ, ²  the Son of the Blessed One?”

Because he wanted to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them. Then, ¹  after he had Jesus flogged, ²  he handed him over ³  to be crucified.

When they had finished mocking ¹  him, they stripped him of the purple cloak and put his own clothes back on him. Then ²  they led him away to crucify him. ³ 

In the same way even the chief priests – together with the experts in the law ¹  – were mocking him among themselves: ²  “He saved others, but he cannot save himself!

Around three o’clock ¹  Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” ² 

When he was in Galilee, they had followed him and given him support. ¹  Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem ²  were there too.

They were all amazed so that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He even commands the unclean spirits and they obey him.”
