He<n id="1" /> said to them, &#8220;The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest<n id="2" /> to send out<n id="3" /> workers into his harvest.

But Martha was distracted<n id="1" /> with all the preparations she had to make,<n id="2" /> so<n id="3" /> she came up to him and said, &#8220;Lord, don&#8217;t you care<n id="4" /> that my sister has left me to do all the work<n id="5" /> alone? Tell<n id="6" /> her to help me.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;When an unclean spirit<n id="1" /> goes out of a person,<n id="2" /> it passes through waterless places<n id="3" /> looking for rest but<n id="4" /> not finding any. Then<n id="5" /> it says, &#8216;I will return to the home I left.&#8217;<n id="6" />

Consider how the flowers<n id="1" /> grow; they do not work<n id="2" /> or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these!

The Lord replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Who then is the faithful and wise manager,<n id="2" /> whom the master puts in charge of his household servants,<n id="3" /> to give them their allowance of food at the proper time?

Or those eighteen who were killed<n id="1" /> when the tower in Siloam fell on them,<n id="2" /> do you think they were worse offenders than all the others who live in Jerusalem?<n id="3" />

So<n id="1" /> he said to the worker who tended the vineyard, &#8216;For<n id="2" /> three years<n id="3" /> now, I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and each time I inspect it<n id="4" /> I find none. Cut<n id="5" /> it down! Why<n id="6" /> should it continue to deplete<n id="7" /> the soil?&#8217;

Then<n id="1" /> shouldn&#8217;t<n id="2" /> this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan<n id="3" /> bound for eighteen long<n id="4" /> years, be released from this imprisonment<n id="5" /> on the Sabbath day?&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins<n id="1" /> and loses<n id="2" /> one of them,<n id="3" /> does not light a lamp, sweep<n id="4" /> the house, and search thoroughly until she finds it?

The slave replied,<n id="1" /> &#8216;Your brother has returned, and your father has killed the fattened calf<n id="2" /> because he got his son<n id="3" /> back safe and sound.&#8217;

But Abraham said, &#8216;Child,<n id="1" /> remember that in your lifetime you received your good things and Lazarus likewise bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in anguish.<n id="2" />

Besides all this,<n id="1" /> a great chasm<n id="2" /> has been fixed between us,<n id="3" /> so that those who want to cross over from here to you cannot do so, and no one can cross from there to us.&#8217;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> took the twelve aside and said to them, &#8220;Look, we are going up to Jerusalem,<n id="3" /> and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished.<n id="4" />

The king<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8216;I will judge you by your own words,<n id="2" /> you wicked slave!<n id="3" /> So you knew, did you, that I was a severe<n id="4" /> man, withdrawing what I didn&#8217;t deposit and reaping what I didn&#8217;t sow?

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now one<n id="1" /> day, as Jesus<n id="2" /> was teaching the people in the temple courts<n id="3" /> and proclaiming<n id="4" /> the gospel, the chief priests and the experts in the law<n id="5" /> with the elders came up<n id="6" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> they watched him carefully and sent spies who pretended to be sincere.<n id="2" /> They wanted to take advantage of what he might say<n id="3" /> so that they could deliver him up to the authority and jurisdiction<n id="4" /> of the governor.

For they all offered their gifts out of their wealth.<n id="1" /> But she, out of her poverty, put in everything she had to live on.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

and said to them, &#8220;You brought me this man as one who was misleading<n id="1" /> the people. When I examined him before you, I<n id="2" /> did not find this man guilty<n id="3" /> of anything you accused him of doing.

The people also stood there watching, but the rulers ridiculed<n id="1" /> him, saying, &#8220;He saved others. Let him save<n id="2" /> himself if<n id="3" /> he is the Christ<n id="4" /> of God, his chosen one!&#8221;

Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who doesn&#8217;t know<n id="2" /> the things that have happened there<n id="3" /> in these days?&#8221;
