Take my yoke<n id="1" /> on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

A<n id="1" /> Canaanite woman from that area came<n id="2" /> and cried out,<n id="3" /> &#8220;Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is horribly demon-possessed!&#8221;

And Jesus answered him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;You are blessed, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood<n id="2" /> did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven!

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades<n id="1" /> will not overpower it.

But he turned and said to Peter, &#8220;Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, because you are not setting your mind on God&#8217;s interests, but on man&#8217;s.&#8221;<n id="1" />

Then Jesus said to his disciples, &#8220;If anyone wants to become my follower,<n id="1" /> he must deny<n id="2" /> himself, take up his cross,<n id="3" /> and follow me.

While he was still speaking, a<n id="1" /> bright cloud<n id="2" /> overshadowed<n id="3" /> them, and a voice from the cloud said,<n id="4" /> &#8220;This is my one dear Son,<n id="5" /> in whom I take great delight. Listen to him!&#8221;<n id="6" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;See that you do not disdain one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.

Again, I tell you the truth,<n id="1" /> if two of you on earth agree about whatever you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.<n id="2" />

He said to her, &#8220;What do you want?&#8221; She replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Permit<n id="2" /> these two sons of mine to sit, one at your<n id="3" /> right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.&#8221;

Then the king will say to those on his right, &#8216;Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

<t /><p class="bodytext">While<n id="1" /> they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it, gave it to his disciples, and said, &#8220;Take, eat, this is my body.&#8221;

I<n id="1" /> tell you, from now on I will not drink of this fruit<n id="2" /> of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father&#8217;s kingdom.&#8221;

Going a little farther, he threw himself down with his face to the ground and prayed,<n id="1" /> &#8220;My Father, if possible,<n id="2" /> let this cup<n id="3" /> pass from me! Yet not what I will, but what you will.&#8221;

He went away a second time and prayed,<n id="1" /> &#8220;My Father, if this cup<n id="2" /> cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will must be done.&#8221;

Jesus knew at once that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and said, &#8220;Who touched my clothes?&#8221;

But after turning and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, &#8220;Get behind me, Satan. You are not setting your mind on God&#8217;s interests, but on man&#8217;s.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> called the crowd, along with his disciples, and said to them, &#8220;If anyone wants to become my follower,<n id="3" /> he must deny<n id="4" /> himself, take up his cross,<n id="5" /> and follow me.

&#8220;Whoever welcomes<n id="1" /> one of these little children<n id="2" /> in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.&#8221;p>

But Jesus said, &#8220;Do not stop him, because no one who does a miracle in my name will be able soon afterward to say anything bad about me.
