<p class="bodytext">So Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;My time<n id="2" /> has not yet arrived,<n id="3" /> but you are ready at any opportunity!<n id="4" />

So Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;My teaching is not from me, but from the one who sent me.<n id="2" />

If anyone wants to do God&#8217;s will,<n id="1" /> he will know about my teaching, whether it is from God or whether I speak from my own authority.<n id="2" />

Yet here he is, speaking publicly,<n id="1" /> and they are saying nothing to him.<n id="2" /> Do the rulers really know that this man<n id="3" /> is the Christ?<n id="4" />

Yet many of the crowd<n id="1" /> believed in him and said, &#8220;Whenever the Christ<n id="2" /> comes, he won&#8217;t perform more miraculous signs than this man did, will he?&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

let the one who believes in me drink.<n id="1" /> Just as the scripture says, &#8216;<b><i>From within himi>b><n id="2" /> <b><i>will flow rivers of living wateri>b>.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" />

(Now he said this about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were going to receive, for the Spirit had not yet been given,<n id="1" /> because Jesus was not yet glorified.)<n id="2" />p>

&#8220;Our law doesn&#8217;t condemn<n id="1" /> a man unless it first hears from him and learns<n id="2" /> what he is doing, does it?&#8221;<n id="3" />

They replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;You aren&#8217;t from Galilee too, are you?<n id="2" /> Investigate carefully and you will see that no prophet<n id="3" /> comes from Galilee!&#8221;p>

And the one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone,<n id="1" /> because I always do those things that please him.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then Jesus said to those Judeans<n id="1" /> who had believed him, &#8220;If you continue to follow my teaching,<n id="2" /> you are really<n id="3" /> my disciples

&#8220;We are descendants<n id="1" /> of Abraham,&#8221; they replied,<n id="2" /> &#8220;and have never been anyone&#8217;s slaves! How can you say,<n id="3" /> &#8216;You will become free&#8217;?&#8221;

Jesus answered them, &#8220;I tell you the solemn truth,<n id="1" /> everyone who practices<n id="2" /> sin is a slave<n id="3" /> of sin.

You people<n id="1" /> are doing the deeds of your father.&#8221;p> <p class="bodytext">Then<n id="2" /> they said to Jesus,<n id="3" /> &#8220;We were not born as a result of immorality!<n id="4" /> We have only one Father, God himself.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">The Judeans<n id="1" /> replied,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Aren&#8217;t we correct in saying<n id="3" /> that you are a Samaritan and are possessed by a demon?&#8221;<n id="4" />

Having said this,<n id="1" /> he spat on the ground and made some mud<n id="2" /> with the saliva. He<n id="3" /> smeared the mud on the blind man&#8217;s<n id="4" /> eyes

<p class="bodytext">Then the neighbors and the people who had seen him previously<n id="1" /> as a beggar began saying,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Is this not the man<n id="3" /> who used to sit and beg?&#8221;

Some people said,<n id="1" /> &#8220;This is the man!&#8221;<n id="2" /> while others said, &#8220;No, but he looks like him.&#8221;<n id="3" /> The man himself<n id="4" /> kept insisting, &#8220;I am the one!&#8221;<n id="5" />

So again they asked the man who used to be blind,<n id="1" /> &#8220;What do you say about him, since he caused you to see?&#8221;<n id="2" /> &#8220;He is a prophet,&#8221; the man replied.<n id="3" />p>

They asked the parents,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Is this your son, whom you say<n id="2" /> was born blind? Then how does he now see?&#8221;
