Then he sent his brothers on their way and they left. He said to them, &#8220;As you travel don&#8217;t be overcome with fear.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Jacob<n id="1" /> sent Judah before him to Joseph to accompany him to Goshen.<n id="2" /> So they came to the land of Goshen.

So Joseph died at the age of 110.<n id="1" /> After they embalmed him, his body<n id="2" /> was placed in a coffin in Egypt.p>

<p class="bodytext">God blessed<n id="1" /> them and said<n id="2" /> to them, &#8220;Be fruitful and multiply! Fill the earth and subdue it!<n id="3" /> Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the ground.&#8221;<n id="4" />

Then God said, &#8220;I now<n id="1" /> give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the entire earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">And Adam had marital relations<n id="1" /> with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son. She named him Seth, saying, &#8220;God has given<n id="2" /> me another child<n id="3" /> in place of Abel because Cain killed him.&#8221;

Shem and Japheth took the garment<n id="1" /> and placed it on their shoulders. Then they walked in backwards and covered up their father&#8217;s nakedness. Their faces were turned<n id="2" /> the other way so they did not see their father&#8217;s nakedness.p>

<p class="bodytext">After Abram<n id="1" /> returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet Abram<n id="2" /> in the Valley of Shaveh (known as the King&#8217;s Valley).<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">So after Abram had lived<n id="1" /> in Canaan for ten years, Sarai, Abram&#8217;s wife, gave Hagar, her Egyptian servant,<n id="2" /> to her husband to be his wife.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">God said, &#8220;No, Sarah your wife is going to bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac.<n id="1" /> I will confirm my covenant with him as a perpetual<n id="2" /> covenant for his descendants after him.

<p class="bodytext">At dawn<n id="1" /> the angels hurried Lot along, saying, &#8220;Get going! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here,<n id="2" /> or else you will be destroyed when the city is judged!&#8221;<n id="3" />

&#8220;Do not harm the boy!&#8221;<n id="1" /> the angel said.<n id="2" /> &#8220;Do not do anything to him, for now I know<n id="3" /> that you fear<n id="4" /> God because you did not withhold your son, your only son, from me.&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">Abraham looked up<n id="1" /> and saw<n id="2" /> behind him<n id="3" /> a ram caught in the bushes by its horns. So he<n id="4" /> went over and got the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.

I will indeed bless you,<n id="1" /> and I will greatly multiply<n id="2" /> your descendants<n id="3" /> so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession<n id="4" /> of the strongholds<n id="5" /> of their enemies.

&#8220;Listen, sir,<n id="1" /> you are a mighty prince<n id="2" /> among us! You may bury your dead in the choicest of our tombs. None of us will refuse you his tomb to prevent you<n id="3" /> from burying your dead.&#8221;p>

Then I bowed down and worshiped the <sc>Lordsc>. I praised the <sc>Lordsc>, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me on the right path to find the granddaughter<n id="1" /> of my master&#8217;s brother for his son.

Stay<n id="1" /> in this land. Then I will be with you and will bless you,<n id="2" /> for I will give all these lands to you and to your descendants,<n id="3" /> and I will fulfill<n id="4" /> the solemn promise I made<n id="5" /> to your father Abraham.

<p class="bodytext">Isaac had just finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob had scarcely left<n id="1" /> his father&#8217;s<n id="2" /> presence, when his brother Esau returned from the hunt.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">So Esau hated<n id="1" /> Jacob because of the blessing his father had given to his brother.<n id="2" /> Esau said privately,<n id="3" /> &#8220;The time<n id="4" /> of mourning for my father is near; then I will kill<n id="5" /> my brother Jacob!&#8221;p>

When Laban heard this news about Jacob, his sister&#8217;s son, he rushed out to meet him. He embraced him and kissed him and brought him to his house. Jacob<n id="1" /> told Laban how he was related to him.<n id="2" />
