&#8220;What do you mean by quoting this proverb concerning the land of Israel,p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;&#8216;The fathers eat sour grapesp> <p class="poetry">And the children&#8217;s teeth become numb?&#8217;<n id="1" />p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;As surely as I live, declares the sovereign <sc>Lordsc>,<n id="1" /> you will not quote this proverb in Israel anymore!

So I said to them, What is this high place you go to?&#8217;&#8221; (So it is called &#8220;High Place&#8221;<n id="1" /> to this day.)p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of the land of Egypt with great power<n id="1" /> and made a name for yourself that is remembered to this day &#8211; we have sinned and behaved wickedly.

<t /><p class="poetry">Listen, you Israelites, to this message which the <sc>Lordsc> is proclaiming against<n id="1" /> you! This message is for the entire clan I brought up<n id="2" /> from the land of Egypt:

<p class="poetry">The exiles of this fortress<n id="1" /> of the people of Israelp> <p class="poetry">will take possession<n id="2" /> of what belongs top> <p class="poetry">the people of Canaan, as far as Zarephath,<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">and the exiles of Jerusalem<n id="4" /> who are in Sepharad<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">will take possession of the towns of the Negev.p>

I will also shake up all the nations, and they<n id="1" /> will offer their treasures;<n id="2" /> then I will fill this temple with glory,&#8217; says the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all.

Now therefore reflect carefully on the recent past,<n id="1" /> before one stone was laid on another in the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple.<n id="2" />

The seed is still in the storehouse, isn&#8217;t it? And the vine, fig tree, pomegranate, and olive tree have not produced. Nevertheless, from today on I will bless you.&#8217;&#8221;p>

&#8220;The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundations of this temple,<n id="1" /> and his hands will complete it.&#8221; Then you will know that the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all has sent me to you.

And,&#8217; says the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all, &#8216;though such a thing may seem to be difficult in the opinion of the small community of those days, will it also appear difficult to me?&#8217; asks the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all.p>

Solomon replied, &#8220;You demonstrated<n id="1" /> great loyalty to your servant, my father David, as he served<n id="2" /> you faithfully, properly, and sincerely.<n id="3" /> You have maintained this great loyalty to this day by allowing his son to sit on his throne.<n id="4" />
