For no one is declared righteous before him ¹  by the works of the law, ²  for through the law comes ³  the knowledge of sin.

For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be united in the likeness of his resurrection. ¹ 

So what benefit ¹  did you then reap ²  from those things that you are now ashamed of? For the end of those things is death.

But now, freed ¹  from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefit ²  leading to sanctification, and the end is eternal life.

But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but ¹  the Spirit is your life ²  because of righteousness.

Indeed, he who ¹  did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?

For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

If the first portion ¹  of the dough offered is holy, then the whole batch is holy, and if the root is holy, so too are the branches. ² 

And we have different gifts ¹  according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith.

They ¹  show that the work of the law is written ²  in their hearts, as their conscience bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or else defend ³  them, ⁴ 

and do not present your members to sin as instruments ¹  to be used for unrighteousness, ²  but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead and your members to God as instruments ³  to be used for righteousness.

You, however, are not in ¹  the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.

And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ) ¹  – if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him.

For they were pleased to do this, and indeed they are indebted to the Jerusalem saints. ¹  For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual things, they are obligated also to minister to them in material things.
