So then, brothers and sisters, ¹  be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid anyone from speaking in tongues. ² 

Like the one made of dust, so too are those made of dust, and like the one from heaven, so too those who are heavenly.

Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God.

With regard to the question about people who have never married, ¹  I have no command from the Lord, but I give my opinion as one shown mercy by the Lord to be trustworthy.

Don’t you know that those who serve in the temple ¹  eat food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar receive a part of the offerings?

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, ¹  whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

So then, do not judge anything before the time. Wait until the Lord comes. He will ¹  bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the motives of hearts. Then each will receive recognition ²  from God.

yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we live, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we live. ¹ 

Also, we are found to be false witnesses about God, because we have testified against God that he raised Christ from the dead, when in reality he did not raise him, if indeed the dead are not raised.

But if someone says to you, “This is from a sacrifice,” do not eat, because of the one who told you and because of conscience ¹  –

If from a human point of view I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, ¹  what did it benefit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. ² 

If others receive this right from you, are we not more deserving? But we have not made use of this right. Instead we endure everything so that we may not be a hindrance to the gospel of Christ.

To the married I give this command – not I, but the Lord ¹  – a wife should not divorce a husband

Or do only Barnabas and I lack the right not to work?

And I say this, brothers and sisters: ¹  The time is short. So then those who have wives should be as those who have none,

In the same way the Lord commanded those who proclaim the gospel to receive their living by the gospel.

In any case, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.

Did the word of God begin with you, ¹  or did it come to you alone?

Now God indeed raised the Lord and he will raise us by his power.

For who concedes you any superiority? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you did not?
