God is spirit, ¹  and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

“Do not let your hearts be distressed. ¹  You believe in God; ²  believe also in me.

Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king ¹  of Israel!” ² 

but I know you, that you do not have the love of God ¹  within you.

came to Jesus ¹  at night ²  and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs ³  that you do unless God is with him.”

For this reason the Jewish leaders ¹  were trying even harder to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was also calling God his own Father, thus making himself equal with God.

Jesus replied, ¹  “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come from God and am now here. ²  I ³  have not come on my own initiative, ⁴  but he ⁵  sent me.

– children not born ¹  by human parents ²  or by human desire ³  or a husband’s ⁴  decision, ⁵  but by God.

For the bread of God is the one who ¹  comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

(Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God – he ¹  has seen the Father.) ² 

We know that God has spoken to Moses! We do not know where this man ¹  comes from!”

and not for the Jewish nation ¹  only, ²  but to gather together ³  into one the children of God who are scattered.) ⁴ 

When ¹  Judas ²  had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him.

Now this ¹  is eternal life ²  – that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, ³  whom you sent.

When Jesus heard this, he said, “This sickness will not lead to death, ¹  but to God’s glory, ²  so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” ³ 

If those people to whom the word of God came were called ‘gods’ (and the scripture cannot be broken), ¹ 

Jesus responded, ¹  “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you would see the glory of God?”

She replied, ¹  “Yes, Lord, I believe ²  that you are the Christ, ³  the Son of God who comes into the world.” ⁴ 

Jesus replied, ¹  “Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. Go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. ¹
