Reverential awe<n id="1" /> came over everyone,<n id="2" /> and many wonders and miraculous signs<n id="3" /> came about by the apostles.

But the officers<n id="1" /> who came for them<n id="2" /> did not find them in the prison, so they returned and reported,<n id="3" />

When Moses saw it, he was amazed at the sight, and when he approached to investigate, there came the voice of the Lord,

So he said, &#8220;Who are you, Lord?&#8221; He replied, &#8220;I am Jesus whom you are persecuting!

(Now the men<n id="1" /> who were traveling with him stood there speechless,<n id="2" /> because they heard the voice but saw no one.)<n id="3" />

At that time<n id="1" /> she became sick<n id="2" /> and died. When they had washed<n id="3" /> her body,<n id="4" /> they placed it in an upstairs room.

He became hungry and wanted to eat, but while they were preparing the meal, a trance came over him.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">About midnight Paul and Silas were praying<n id="1" /> and singing hymns to God,<n id="2" /> and the rest of<n id="3" /> the prisoners were listening to them.

The police officers reported these words to the magistrates. They were frightened when they heard Paul and Silas<n id="1" /> were Roman citizens<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Now when they heard about<n id="1" /> the resurrection from the dead, some began to scoff,<n id="2" /> but others said, &#8220;We will hear you again about this.&#8221;

When they reached Ephesus,<n id="1" /> Paul<n id="2" /> left Priscilla and Aquila<n id="3" /> behind there, but he himself went<n id="4" /> into the synagogue<n id="5" /> and addressed<n id="6" /> the Jews.

So the commanding officer<n id="1" /> came and asked<n id="2" /> Paul,<n id="3" /> &#8220;Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?&#8221;<n id="4" /> He replied,<n id="5" /> &#8220;Yes.&#8221;

And Saul agreed completely with killing<n id="1" /> him.p><t /><p class="bodytext">Now on that day a great<n id="2" /> persecution began<n id="3" /> against the church in Jerusalem,<n id="4" /> and all<n id="5" /> except the apostles were forced to scatter throughout the regions<n id="6" /> of Judea and Samaria.

Peter said to her, &#8220;Tell me, were the two of you<n id="1" /> paid this amount<n id="2" /> for the land?&#8221; Sapphira<n id="3" /> said, &#8220;Yes, that much.&#8221;

He thought his own people<n id="1" /> would understand that God was delivering them<n id="2" /> through him,<n id="3" /> but they did not understand.<n id="4" />

but Saul learned of their plot against him.<n id="1" /> They were also watching<n id="2" /> the city gates<n id="3" /> day and night so that they could kill him.

He gave<n id="1" /> her his hand and helped her get up. Then he called<n id="2" /> the saints and widows and presented her alive.

The following day<n id="1" /> he entered Caesarea.<n id="2" /> Now Cornelius was waiting anxiously<n id="3" /> for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

And I remembered the word of the Lord,<n id="1" /> as he used to say,<n id="2" /> &#8216;John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.&#8217;<n id="3" />

When he saw that this pleased the Jews,<n id="1" /> he proceeded to arrest Peter too. (This took place during the feast of Unleavened Bread.)<n id="2" />
