So Pilate asked him again,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Have you nothing to say? See how many charges they are bringing against you!&#8221;

And just as Jesus<n id="1" /> was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens<n id="2" /> splitting apart and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.<n id="3" />

As he went along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, Simon&#8217;s brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen).<n id="1" />

Going on a little farther, he saw James, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother in their<n id="1" /> boat mending nets.

&#8220;Leave us alone,<n id="1" /> Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are &#8211; the Holy One<n id="2" /> of God!&#8221;

But so that you may know<n id="1" /> that the Son of Man<n id="2" /> has authority on earth to forgive sins,&#8221; &#8211; he said to the paralytic<n id="3" /> &#8211;

And immediately the man<n id="1" /> stood up, took his stretcher, and went out in front of them all. They were all amazed and glorified God, saying, &#8220;We have never seen anything like this!&#8221;p>

As he went along, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax booth.<n id="1" /> &#8220;Follow me,&#8221; he said to him. And he got up and followed him.

And looking at those who were sitting around him in a circle, he said, &#8220;Here<n id="1" /> are my mother and my brothers!

<p class="otpoetry">so that <b><i>although they look they may look but not see,i>b>p> <p class="otpoetry"><b><i>and although they hear they may hear but not understand,i>b>p> <p class="otpoetry"><i><b>so they may not repent and be forgivenb>.i>&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

He goes to sleep and gets up, night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.

<p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> the herdsmen ran off and spread the news in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened.

Then the woman, with fear and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.

But many saw them leaving and recognized them, and they hurried on foot<n id="1" /> from all the towns<n id="2" /> and arrived there ahead of them.<n id="3" />

As Jesus<n id="1" /> came ashore<n id="2" /> he saw the large crowd and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So<n id="3" /> he taught them many things.p>

He said to them, &#8220;How many loaves do you have? Go and see.&#8221; When they found out, they said, &#8220;Five &#8211; and two fish.&#8221;

for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them:<n id="1" /> &#8220;Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.&#8221;

So they brought the boy<n id="1" /> to him. When the spirit saw him, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He<n id="2" /> fell on the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.

Jesus said to them, &#8220;Aren&#8217;t you deceived<n id="1" /> for this reason, because you don&#8217;t know the scriptures or the power of God?

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> one of the experts in the law<n id="2" /> came and heard them debating. When he saw that Jesus<n id="3" /> answered them well, he asked him, &#8220;Which commandment is the most important of all?&#8221;
