From<n id="1" /> the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and forceful people lay hold of it.<n id="2" />

I<n id="1" /> tell you that on the day of judgment, people will give an account for every worthless word they speak.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Six days later<n id="1" /> Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John the brother of James,<n id="2" /> and led them privately up a high mountain.

And about five o&#8217;clock that afternoon<n id="1" /> he went out and found others standing around, and said to them, &#8216;Why are you standing here all day without work?&#8217;

saying, &#8216;These last fellows worked one hour, and you have made them equal to us who bore the hardship and burning heat of the day.&#8217;

and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged severely<n id="1" /> and crucified.<n id="2" /> Yet<n id="3" /> on the third day, he will be raised.&#8221;p>

And you say, &#8216;If we had lived in the days of our ancestors,<n id="1" /> we would not have participated with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.&#8217;

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;But as for that day and hour no one knows it &#8211; not even the angels in heaven<n id="1" /> &#8211; except the Father alone.

then the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not foresee,

&#8220;You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be handed over<n id="1" /> to be crucified.&#8221;<n id="2" />

and declared, &#8220;This man<n id="1" /> said, &#8216;I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.&#8217;&#8221;

So they took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story is told among the Jews to this day.<n id="1" />p>

teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember,<n id="1" /> I am with you<n id="2" /> always, to the end of the age.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

On that day, many will say to me, &#8216;Lord, Lord, didn&#8217;t we prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons and do<n id="1" /> many powerful deeds?&#8217;

Jesus said to them, &#8220;The wedding guests<n id="1" /> cannot mourn while the bridegroom<n id="2" /> is with them, can they? But the days<n id="3" /> are coming when the bridegroom will be taken from them,<n id="4" /> and then they will fast.

<t /><p class="bodytext">From that time on<n id="1" /> Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem<n id="2" /> and suffer<n id="3" /> many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law,<n id="4" /> and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;Immediately<n id="1" /> after the suffering<n id="2" /> of those days, <i>the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shakeni>.<n id="3" />

I<n id="1" /> tell you, from now on I will not drink of this fruit<n id="2" /> of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father&#8217;s kingdom.&#8221;

At that moment Jesus said to the crowd, &#8220;Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest me like you would an outlaw?<n id="1" /> Day after day I sat teaching in the temple courts, yet<n id="2" /> you did not arrest me.

and saying, &#8220;You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself!<n id="1" /> If you are God&#8217;s Son, come down<n id="2" /> from the cross!&#8221;
