Therefore he said, &#8220;A nobleman<n id="1" /> went to a distant country to receive<n id="2" /> for himself a kingdom and then return.<n id="3" />

Jesus<n id="1" /> sent Peter and John, saying, &#8220;Go and prepare the Passover<n id="2" /> for us to eat.&#8221;<n id="3" />

But Peter<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!&#8221;<n id="2" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Soon<n id="1" /> afterward<n id="2" /> Jesus<n id="3" /> went to a town<n id="4" /> called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went with him.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now when<n id="1" /> the days drew near<n id="2" /> for him to be taken up,<n id="3" /> Jesus<n id="4" /> set out resolutely<n id="5" /> to go to Jerusalem.<n id="6" />

The expert in religious law<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;The one who showed mercy<n id="2" /> to him.&#8221; So<n id="3" /> Jesus said to him, &#8220;Go and do<n id="4" /> the same.&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now as they went on their way, Jesus<n id="1" /> entered a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him as a guest.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> he said to them, &#8220;Suppose one of you<n id="2" /> has a friend, and you go to him<n id="3" /> at midnight and say to him, &#8216;Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">At that time,<n id="1" /> some Pharisees<n id="2" /> came up and said to Jesus,<n id="3" /> &#8220;Get away from here,<n id="4" /> because Herod<n id="5" /> wants to kill you.&#8221;

But<n id="1" /> he said to them, &#8220;Go<n id="2" /> and tell that fox,<n id="3" /> &#8216;Look, I am casting out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day<n id="4" /> I will complete my work.<n id="5" />

Another<n id="1" /> said, &#8216;I have bought five yoke of oxen,<n id="2" /> and I am going out<n id="3" /> to examine them. Please excuse me.&#8217;

So he went and worked for<n id="1" /> one of the citizens of that country, who<n id="2" /> sent him to his fields to feed pigs.<n id="3" />

I will get up and go to my father and say to him, &#8220;Father, I have sinned<n id="1" /> against heaven<n id="2" /> and against<n id="3" /> you.

When<n id="1" /> he saw them he said, &#8220;Go<n id="2" /> and show yourselves to the priests.&#8221;<n id="3" /> And<n id="4" /> as they went along, they were cleansed.

For the Son of Man is to go just as it has been determined,<n id="1" /> but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> went out and made his way,<n id="3" /> as he customarily did, to the Mount of Olives,<n id="4" /> and the disciples followed him.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> that very day two of them<n id="2" /> were on their way to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles<n id="3" /> from Jerusalem.<n id="4" />

So<n id="1" /> he answered them,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Go tell<n id="3" /> John what you have seen and heard:<n id="4" /> The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the<n id="5" /> deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news proclaimed to them.

As for the seed that<n id="1" /> fell among thorns, these are the ones who hear, but<n id="2" /> as they go on their way they are choked<n id="3" /> by the worries and riches and pleasures of life,<n id="4" /> and their fruit does not mature.<n id="5" />

Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and live there, so<n id="1" /> the last state of that person<n id="2" /> is worse than the first.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>
