As<n id="1" /> he was saying this, a cloud<n id="2" /> came<n id="3" /> and overshadowed<n id="4" /> them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;I<n id="1" /> tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body,<n id="2" /> and after that have nothing more they can do.

<t /><p class="bodytext">When<n id="1" /> one of those at the meal with Jesus<n id="2" /> heard this, he said to him, &#8220;Blessed is everyone<n id="3" /> who will feast<n id="4" /> in the kingdom of God!&#8221;<n id="5" />

For<n id="1" /> a while he refused, but later on<n id="2" /> he said to himself, &#8216;Though I neither fear God nor have regard for people,<n id="3" />

&#8220;As for these things that you are gazing at, the days will come when not one stone will be left on another.<n id="1" /> All will be torn down!&#8221;<n id="2" />

And when you hear of wars and rebellions,<n id="1" /> do not be afraid.<n id="2" /> For these things must happen first, but the end will not come at once.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

And all those who knew Jesus<n id="1" /> stood at a distance, and the women who had followed him from Galilee saw<n id="2" /> these things.p>

Now it was Mary Magdalene,<n id="1" /> Joanna,<n id="2" /> Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles.

The<n id="1" /> angel answered him, &#8220;I am Gabriel, who stands<n id="2" /> in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring<n id="3" /> you this good news.

And now,<n id="1" /> because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time,<n id="2" /> you will be silent, unable to speak,<n id="3" /> until the day these things take place.&#8221;p>

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed<n id="1" /> at him. He turned and said to the crowd that followed him, &#8220;I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith!&#8221;<n id="2" />

But<n id="1" /> other seed fell on good soil and grew,<n id="2" /> and it produced a hundred times as much grain.&#8221;<n id="3" /> As he said this,<n id="4" /> he called out, &#8220;The one who has ears to hear had better listen!&#8221;<n id="5" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">After this<n id="1" /> the Lord appointed seventy-two<n id="2" /> others and sent them on ahead of him two by two into every town<n id="3" /> and place where he himself was about to go.

<p class="bodytext">As<n id="1" /> he said these things, a woman in the crowd spoke out<n id="2" /> to him, &#8220;Blessed is the womb<n id="3" /> that bore you and the breasts at which you nursed!&#8221;<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;But woe to you Pharisees!<n id="1" /> You give a tenth<n id="2" /> of your mint,<n id="3" /> rue,<n id="4" /> and every herb, yet you neglect justice<n id="5" /> and love for God! But you should have done these things without neglecting the others.<n id="6" />

When<n id="1" /> he said this all his adversaries were humiliated,<n id="2" /> but<n id="3" /> the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things<n id="4" /> he was doing.<n id="5" />p>

Won&#8217;t<n id="1" /> the master<n id="2" /> instead say to him, &#8216;Get my dinner ready, and make yourself ready<n id="3" /> to serve me while<n id="4" /> I eat and drink. Then<n id="5" /> you may eat and drink&#8217;?

The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this:<n id="1" /> &#8216;God, I thank<n id="2" /> you that I am not like other people:<n id="3" /> extortionists,<n id="4" /> unrighteous people,<n id="5" /> adulterers &#8211; or even like this tax collector.<n id="6" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">While the people were listening to these things, Jesus<n id="1" /> proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem,<n id="2" /> and because they thought<n id="3" /> that the kingdom of God<n id="4" /> was going to<n id="5" /> appear immediately.

and said to him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Tell us: By what authority<n id="2" /> are you doing these things?<n id="3" /> Or who it is who gave you this authority?&#8221;
