And just as Jesus<n id="1" /> was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens<n id="2" /> splitting apart and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.<n id="3" />

It has often thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if you are able to do anything, have compassion on us and help us.&#8221;

For I tell you the truth,<n id="1" /> whoever gives you a cup of water because<n id="2" /> you bear Christ&#8217;s<n id="3" /> name will never lose his reward.p>

<p class="bodytext">John answered them,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not recognize,<n id="2" />

I did not recognize<n id="1" /> him, but I came baptizing with water so that he could be revealed to Israel.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

John<n id="1" /> was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim,<n id="2" /> because water was plentiful there, and people were coming<n id="3" /> to him<n id="4" /> and being baptized.

&#8220;Sir,&#8221;<n id="1" /> the woman<n id="2" /> said to him, &#8220;you have no bucket and the well<n id="3" /> is deep; where then do you get this<n id="4" /> living water?<n id="5" />

The woman said to him, &#8220;Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw<n id="1" /> water.&#8221;<n id="2" />

let the one who believes in me drink.<n id="1" /> Just as the scripture says, &#8216;<b><i>From within himi>b><n id="2" /> <b><i>will flow rivers of living wateri>b>.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" />

He poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples&#8217; feet and to dry them with the towel he had wrapped around himself.<n id="1" />p>

So he ordered the chariot to stop, and both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water,<n id="1" /> and Philip baptized<n id="2" /> him.

&#8220;No one can withhold the water for these people to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did,<n id="1" /> can he?&#8221;<n id="2" />

And I remembered the word of the Lord,<n id="1" /> as he used to say,<n id="2" /> &#8216;John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.&#8217;<n id="3" />

let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings,<n id="1" /> because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience<n id="2" /> and our bodies washed in pure water.

Then<n id="1" /> the serpent spouted water like a river out of his mouth after the woman in an attempt to<n id="2" /> sweep her away by a flood,

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> the third angel<n id="2" /> poured out his bowl on the rivers and the springs of water, and they turned into blood.

Now<n id="1" /> I heard the angel of the waters saying:p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;You are just<n id="2" /> &#8211; the one who is and who was,p> <p class="poetry">the Holy One &#8211; because you have passed these judgments,<n id="3" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> the angel<n id="2" /> said to me, &#8220;The waters you saw (where the prostitute is seated) are peoples, multitudes,<n id="3" /> nations, and languages.

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> the angel<n id="2" /> showed me the river of the water of life &#8211; water as clear as crystal &#8211; pouring out<n id="3" /> from the throne of God and of the Lamb,

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;I baptize you with water, for repentance, but the one coming after me is more powerful than I am &#8211; I am not worthy<n id="1" /> to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.<n id="2" />
