Her<n id="1" /> neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown<n id="2" /> great mercy to her, and they rejoiced<n id="3" /> with her.p>

But<n id="1" /> the Pharisees<n id="2" /> and their experts in the law<n id="3" /> complained<n id="4" /> to his disciples, saying, &#8220;Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?&#8221;<n id="5" />

Jesus<n id="1" /> answered them, &#8220;Those who are well don&#8217;t need a physician, but those who are sick do.<n id="2" />

The experts in the law<n id="1" /> and the Pharisees<n id="2" /> watched<n id="3" /> Jesus<n id="4" /> closely to see if<n id="5" /> he would heal on the Sabbath,<n id="6" /> so that they could find a reason to accuse him.

<p class="poetry">&#8220;Woe to you<n id="1" /> when all people<n id="2" /> speak well of you, for their ancestors<n id="3" /> did the same things to the false prophets.p>

So<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> said to them, &#8220;The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them are called &#8216;benefactors.&#8217;<n id="3" />

like the accounts<n id="1" /> passed on<n id="2" /> to us by those who were eyewitnesses and servants of the word<n id="3" /> from the beginning.<n id="4" />

and all who heard it were astonished<n id="1" /> at what the shepherds said.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> Jesus&#8217;<n id="2" /> parents went to Jerusalem<n id="3" /> every<n id="4" /> year for the feast of the Passover.<n id="5" />

And all who heard Jesus<n id="1" /> were astonished<n id="2" /> at his understanding and his answers.

<p class="bodytext">So<n id="1" /> the crowds were asking<n id="2" /> him, &#8220;What then should we do?&#8221;

Treat others<n id="1" /> in the same way that you would want them to treat you.<n id="2" />p>

So<n id="1" /> when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave<n id="2" /> well.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">John&#8217;s<n id="1" /> disciples informed him about all these things. So<n id="2" /> John called<n id="3" /> two of his disciples

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> his disciples asked him what this parable meant.<n id="2" />

Those<n id="1" /> who had seen it told them how the man who had been demon-possessed had been healed.<n id="2" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;Get dressed for service<n id="1" /> and keep your lamps burning;<n id="2" />

But they remained silent. So<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> took hold of the man,<n id="3" /> healed him, and sent him away.<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">The Pharisees<n id="1" /> (who loved money) heard all this and ridiculed<n id="2" /> him.
