I also said to you at that time, “I am no longer able to sustain you by myself.

So I instructed you at that time regarding everything you should do.

You have been taught that the Lord alone is God – there is no other besides him.

Their territory extended ¹  from Aroer at the edge of the Arnon valley as far as Mount Siyon ²  – that is, Hermon –

The Lord was also angry enough at Aaron to kill him, but at that time I prayed for him ¹  too.

but whatever does not have fins and scales you may not eat; it is ritually impure to you.

At the end of every three years you must bring all the tithe of your produce, in that very year, and you must store it up in your villages.

They ¹  will have no inheritance in the midst of their fellow Israelites; ²  the Lord alone is their inheritance, just as he had told them.

So on that day Moses wrote down this song and taught it to the Israelites,

You must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer, ¹  for the Lord your God will be testing you to see if you love him ²  with all your mind and being. ³

For this is no idle word for you – it is your life! By this word you will live a long time in the land you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.”

I furthermore admonished your judges at that time that they ¹  should pay attention to issues among your fellow citizens ²  and judge fairly, ³  whether between one citizen and another ⁴  or a citizen and a resident foreigner. ⁵ 

The Lord your God is about to go ¹  ahead of you; he will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt ² 

The Amorite inhabitants of that area ¹  confronted ²  you and chased you like a swarm of bees, striking you down from Seir as far as Hormah. ³ 

At that time we seized all his cities and put every one of them ¹  under divine judgment, ²  including even the women and children; we left no survivors.

Next we set out on ¹  the route to Bashan, ²  but King Og of Bashan and his whole army ³  came out to meet us in battle at Edrei. ⁴
