<p class="poetry">He granted their request,p> <p class="poetry">then struck them with a disease.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">So he made a solemn vow<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">that he would make them die<n id="2" /> in the desert,p>

<p class="poetry">They worshiped<n id="1" /> their idols,p> <p class="poetry">which became a snare to them.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Yet he took notice of their distress,p> <p class="poetry">when he heard their cry for help.p>

<p class="poetry">He remembered his covenant with them,p> <p class="poetry">and relented<n id="1" /> because of his great loyal love.p>

<p class="poetry">They witnessed the acts of the <sc>Lordsc>,p> <p class="poetry">his amazing feats on the deep water.p>

<p class="poetry">I am committed to peace,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">but when I speak, they want to make war.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">but these men lie in wait for their own blood,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">they ambush their own lives!<n id="2" />p>

The people to whom they are prophesying will die through war and famine. Their bodies will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem<n id="1" /> and there will be no one to bury them. This will happen to the men and their wives, their sons, and their daughters.<n id="2" /> For I will pour out on them the destruction they deserve.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">&#8220;You<n id="1" /> Ethiopians<n id="2" /> will also die by my sword!&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

&#8220;As for your ancestors, where are they? And did the prophets live forever?

<p class="bodytext">When they were emptying their sacks, there was each man&#8217;s bag of money in his sack! When they and their father saw the bags of money, they were afraid.

Then the leaders of Israel, the heads of their clans,<n id="1" /> made an offering. They were the leaders of the tribes; they were the ones who had been supervising<n id="2" /> the numbering.

&#8220;How long must I bear<n id="1" /> with this evil congregation<n id="2" /> that murmurs against me? I have heard the complaints of the Israelites that they murmured against me.

then both parties to the controversy must stand before the <sc>Lordsc>, that is, before the priests and judges<n id="1" /> who will be in office in those days.

<p class="poetry">He said, &#8220;I will reject them,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">I will see what will happen to them;p> <p class="poetry">for they are a perverse generation,p> <p class="poetry">children<n id="2" /> who show no loyalty.p>

<p class="bodytext">Three days after they made the treaty with them, the Israelites found out they were from the local area and lived nearby.<n id="1" />
