<t /><p class="bodytext">While I, Daniel, was watching the vision, I sought to understand it. Now one who appeared to be a man was standing before me.

So he approached the place where I was standing. As he came, I felt terrified and fell flat on the ground.<n id="1" /> Then he said to me, &#8220;Understand, son of man,<n id="2" /> that the vision pertains to the time of the end.&#8221;

The vision of the evenings and mornings that was told to you is correct.<n id="1" /> But you should seal up the vision, for it refers to a time many days from now.&#8221;p>

yes, while I was still praying,<n id="1" /> the man Gabriel, whom I had seen previously<n id="2" /> in a vision, was approaching me in my state of extreme weariness,<n id="3" /> around the time of the evening offering.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;In those times many will oppose<n id="1" /> the king of the south.<n id="2" /> Those who are violent<n id="3" /> among your own people will rise up in confirmation of<n id="4" /> the vision, but they will falter.

<t /><p class="poetry">The vision<n id="1" /> that Obadiah<n id="2" /> saw.<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">The Lord <sc>Godsc><n id="4" /> says this concerning<n id="5" /> Edom:<n id="6" />p><t /><p class="poetry">We have heard a report from the <sc>Lordsc>.p> <p class="poetry">An envoy was sent among the nations, saying,<n id="7" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;Arise! Let us make war against Edom!&#8221;<n id="8" />p>

<p class="poetry">Therefore night will fall, and you will receive no visions;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">it will grow dark, and you will no longer be able to read the omens.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">The sun will set on these prophets,p> <p class="poetry">and the daylight will turn to darkness over their heads.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">For the message is a witness to what is decreed;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">it gives reliable testimony about how matters will turn out.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">Even if the message<n id="3" /> is not fulfilled right away, wait patiently;<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">for it will certainly come to pass &#8211; it will not arrive late.p>

<p class="bodytext">Then the <sc>Lordsc> said to me, &#8220;Those prophets are prophesying lies while claiming my authority!<n id="1" /> I did not send them. I did not commission them.<n id="2" /> I did not speak to them. They are prophesying to these people false visions, worthless predictions,<n id="3" /> and the delusions of their own mind.

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all<n id="1" /> says to the people of Jerusalem:<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;Do not listen to whatp> <p class="poetry">those prophets are saying to you.p> <p class="poetry">They are filling you with false hopes.p> <p class="poetry">They are reporting visions of their own imaginations,p> <p class="poetry">not something the <sc>Lordsc> has given them to say.<n id="3" />p>

The customer will no longer pay the seller<n id="1" /> while both parties are alive, for the vision against their whole crowd<n id="2" /> will not be revoked. Each person, for his iniquity,<n id="3" /> will fail to preserve his life.p>

Therefore tell them, &#8216;This is what the sovereign <sc>Lordsc> says: I hereby end this proverb; they will not recite it in Israel any longer.&#8217; But say to them, &#8216;The days are at hand when every vision will be fulfilled.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Then I heard a holy one<n id="1" /> speaking. Another holy one said to the one who was speaking, &#8220;To what period of time does the vision pertain &#8211; this vision concerning the daily sacrifice and the destructive act of rebellion and the giving over of both the sanctuary and army to be trampled?&#8221;

<p class="poetry">&#8220;Seventy weeks<n id="1" /> have been determinedp> <p class="poetry">concerning your people and your holy cityp> <p class="poetry">to put an end to<n id="2" /> rebellion,p> <p class="poetry">to bring sin<n id="3" /> to completion,<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">to atone for iniquity,p> <p class="poetry">to bring in perpetual<n id="5" /> righteousness,p> <p class="poetry">to seal up<n id="6" /> the prophetic vision,<n id="7" />p> <p class="poetry">and to anoint a most holy place.<n id="8" />p>
