I will bring war, starvation, and disease<n id="1" /> on them until they are completely destroyed from the land I gave them and their ancestors.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">The sounds of battle<n id="1" /> will resound to the ends of the earth.p> <p class="poetry">For the <sc>Lordsc> will bring charges against the nations.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">He will pass judgment on all humankindp> <p class="poetry">and will hand the wicked over to be killed in war.&#8217;<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> so affirms it!<n id="4" />p>

and they brought Uriah back from there.<n id="1" /> They took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him executed and had his body thrown into the burial place of the common people.<n id="2" />p>

There is no reason why you and your people should die in war<n id="1" /> or from starvation or disease!<n id="2" /> That&#8217;s what the <sc>Lordsc> says will happen to any nation<n id="3" /> that will not be subject to the king of Babylon.

However, listen to what I, the <sc>Lordsc>, promise you, King Zedekiah of Judah. I, the <sc>Lordsc>, promise that<n id="1" /> you will not die in battle or be executed.<n id="2" />

I will certainly save you. You will not fall victim to violence.<n id="1" /> You will escape with your life<n id="2" /> because you trust in me. I, the <sc>Lordsc>, affirm it!&#8221;&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

So now be very sure of this: You will die from war, starvation, or disease in the place where you want to go and live.&#8221;p>

But ever since we stopped sacrificing and pouring out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven, we have been in great need. Our people have died in wars or of starvation.&#8221;<n id="1" />

I will indeed<n id="1" /> see to it that disaster, not prosperity, happens to them.<n id="2" /> All the people of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will die in war or from starvation until not one of them is left.

<p class="poetry">&#8220;Make an announcement throughout Egypt.p> <p class="poetry">Proclaim it in Migdol, Memphis, and Tahpanhes.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8216;Take your positions and prepare to do battle.p> <p class="poetry">For the enemy army is destroying all the nations around you.&#8217;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">I will make many stumble.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">They will fall over one another in their hurry to flee.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">They will say, &#8216;Get up!p> <p class="poetry">Let&#8217;s go back to our own people.p> <p class="poetry">Let&#8217;s go back to our homelandsp> <p class="poetry">because the enemy is coming to destroy us.&#8217;<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">People will not praise Moab any more.p> <p class="poetry">The enemy will capture Heshbon<n id="1" /> and plot<n id="2" /> how to destroy Moab,<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">saying, &#8216;Come, let&#8217;s put an end to that nation!&#8217;p> <p class="poetry">City of Madmen, you will also be destroyed.<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">A destructive army will march against you.<n id="5" />p>

<p class="poetry">Kill all the farmers who sow the seed in the land of Babylon.p> <p class="poetry">Kill all those who wield the sickle at harvest time.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">Let all the foreigners return to their own people.p> <p class="poetry">Let them hurry back to their own landsp> <p class="poetry">to escape destruction by that enemy army.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">You who have escaped the sword,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">go, do not delay.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">Remember the <sc>Lordsc> in a faraway land.p> <p class="poetry">Think about Jerusalem.<n id="3" />p>

I will see to it that all the Judean remnant that was determined to go<n id="1" /> and live in the land of Egypt will be destroyed. Here in the land of Egypt they will fall in battle<n id="2" /> or perish from starvation. People of every class<n id="3" /> will die in war or from starvation. They will become an object of horror and ridicule, an example of those who have been cursed and that people use in pronouncing a curse.<n id="4" />

Then<n id="1" /> I, the <sc>Lordsc>, promise that<n id="2" /> I will hand over King Zedekiah of Judah, his officials, and any of the people who survive the war, starvation, and disease. I will hand them over to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and to their enemies who want to kill them. He will slaughter them with the sword. He will not show them any mercy, compassion, or pity.&#8217;p>

<p class="poetry">They will eat up your crops and your food.p> <p class="poetry">They will kill off<n id="1" /> your sons and your daughters.p> <p class="poetry">They will eat up your sheep and your cattle.p> <p class="poetry">They will destroy your vines and your fig trees.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">Their weapons will batter down<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">the fortified cities you trust in.p>

<p class="poetry">A destructive army<n id="1" /> will come marchingp> <p class="poetry">over the hilltops in the desert.p> <p class="poetry">For the <sc>Lordsc> will use them as his destructive weapon<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">against<n id="3" /> everyone from one end of the land to the other.p> <p class="poetry">No one will be safe.<n id="4" />p>

Even if they fast, I will not hear their cries for help. Even if they offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them.<n id="1" /> Instead, I will kill them through wars, famines, and plagues.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Then I said, &#8220;Oh, Lord <sc>Godsc>,<n id="1" /> look!<n id="2" /> The prophets are telling them that you said,<n id="3" /> &#8216;You will not experience war or suffer famine.<n id="4" /> I will give you lasting peace and prosperity in this land.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="5" />p>
