<p class="bodytext">When one<n id="1" /> of the men saw this, he reported it to Joab saying, &#8220;I saw Absalom hanging in an oak tree.

Then ten soldiers who were Joab&#8217;s armor bearers struck Absalom and finished him off.p>

<p class="bodytext"><v id="(19:2)" /> Joab was told, &#8220;The king is weeping and mourning over Absalom.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">Joab answered, &#8220;Get serious!<n id="1" /> I don&#8217;t want to swallow up or destroy anything!

<p class="bodytext">Now Joab was the general in command of all the army of Israel. Benaiah the son of Jehoida was over the Kerethites and the Perethites.

Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah&#8217;s three sons were Abshai,<n id="1" /> Joab, and Asahel.

He built up the city around it, from the terrace to the surrounding walls;<n id="1" /> Joab restored the rest of the city.

So Joab and his men<n id="1" /> marched toward the Arameans to do battle, and they fled before him.

Now Joab<n id="1" /> did not number Levi and Benjamin, for the king&#8217;s edict disgusted him.
