Isaac<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;Bring some of the wild game for me to eat, my son.<n id="2" /> Then I will bless you.&#8221;<n id="3" /> So Jacob<n id="4" /> brought it to him, and he ate it. He also brought him wine, and Isaac<n id="5" /> drank.

He also prepared some tasty food and brought it to his father. Esau<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;My father, get up<n id="2" /> and eat some of your son&#8217;s wild game. Then you can bless me.&#8221;<n id="3" />

So Jacob named the place Peniel,<n id="1" /> explaining,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Certainly<n id="3" /> I have seen God face to face<n id="4" /> and have survived.&#8221;<n id="5" />p>

<p class="bodytext">They said to one other,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Surely we&#8217;re being punished<n id="2" /> because of our brother, because we saw how distressed he was<n id="3" /> when he cried to us for mercy, but we refused to listen. That is why this distress<n id="4" /> has come on us!&#8221;
