He met<n id="1" /> with the people and appointed musicians to play before the <sc>Lordsc> and praise his majestic splendor. As they marched ahead of the warriors they said: &#8220;Give thanks to the <sc>Lordsc>, for his loyal love endures.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

The Ammonites and Moabites attacked the men from Mount Seir<n id="1" /> and annihilated them.<n id="2" /> When they had finished off the men<n id="3" /> of Seir, they attacked and destroyed one another.<n id="4" />

They worked hard and made the repairs.<n id="1" /> They followed the measurements specified for God&#8217;s temple and restored it.<n id="2" />

They stood at their posts according to the regulations outlined in the law of Moses, the man of God. The priests were splashing the blood as the Levites handed it to them.<n id="1" />

&#8220;The Sea&#8221; stood on top of twelve bulls. Three faced northward, three westward, three southward, and three eastward. &#8220;The Sea&#8221; was placed on top of them, and they all faced outward.<n id="1" />

As his father David had decreed, Solomon<n id="1" /> appointed the divisions of the priests to do their assigned tasks, the Levitical orders to lead worship and help the priests with their daily tasks,<n id="2" /> and the divisions of the gatekeepers to serve at their assigned gates.<n id="3" /> This was what David the man of God had ordered.<n id="4" />

May the <sc>Lordsc> your God be praised because he favored<n id="1" /> you by placing you on his throne as the one ruling on his behalf!<n id="2" /> Because of your God&#8217;s love for Israel and his lasting commitment to them,<n id="3" /> he made you king over them so you could make just and right decisions.&#8221;<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">King Rehoboam consulted with the older advisers who had served<n id="1" /> his father Solomon when he had been alive. He asked them,<n id="2" /> &#8220;How do you advise me to answer these people?&#8221;

&#8216;If disaster comes on us in the form of military attack,<n id="1" /> judgment, plague, or famine, we will stand in front of this temple before you, for you are present in this temple.<n id="2" /> We will cry out to you for help in our distress, so that you will<n id="3" /> hear and deliver us.&#8217;

You will not fight in this battle. Take your positions, stand, and watch the <sc>Lordsc> deliver you,<n id="1" /> O Judah and Jerusalem. Don&#8217;t be afraid and don&#8217;t panic!<n id="2" /> Tomorrow march out toward them; the <sc>Lordsc> is with you!&#8217;&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">Early the next morning they marched out to the Desert of Tekoa. When they were ready to march, Jehoshaphat stood up and said: &#8220;Listen to me, you people of Judah<n id="1" /> and residents of Jerusalem! Trust in the <sc>Lordsc> your God and you will be safe!<n id="2" /> Trust in the message of his prophets and you will win.&#8221;

He placed the men at their posts, each holding his weapon in his hand. They lined up from the south side of the temple to the north side and stood near the altar and the temple, surrounding the king.<n id="1" />

Then she saw<n id="1" /> the king standing by his pillar at the entrance. The officers and trumpeters stood beside the king and all the people of the land were celebrating and blowing trumpets, and the musicians with various instruments were leading the celebration. Athaliah tore her clothes and yelled, &#8220;Treason! Treason!&#8221;<n id="2" />
