He restored the chief cupbearer to his former position<n id="1" /> so that he placed the cup in Pharaoh&#8217;s hand,

It happened just as he had said<n id="1" /> to us &#8211; Pharaoh<n id="2" /> restored me to my office, but he impaled the baker.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

But now give back the man&#8217;s wife. Indeed<n id="1" /> he is a prophet<n id="2" /> and he will pray for you; thus you will live.<n id="3" /> But if you don&#8217;t give her back,<n id="4" /> know that you will surely die<n id="5" /> along with all who belong to you.&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">The servant asked him, &#8220;What if the woman is not willing to come back with me<n id="1" /> to this land? Must I then<n id="2" /> take your son back to the land from which you came?&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">When Joseph&#8217;s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, &#8220;What if Joseph bears a grudge and wants to repay<n id="1" /> us in full<n id="2" /> for all the harm<n id="3" /> we did to him?&#8221;

He waited another seven days and sent the dove out again,<n id="1" /> but it did not return to him this time.<n id="2" />p>

Then they attacked En Mishpat (that is, Kadesh) again,<n id="1" /> and they conquered all the territory of the Amalekites, as well as the Amorites who were living in Hazazon Tamar.p>

<p class="bodytext">So Abimelech gave<n id="1" /> sheep, cattle, and male and female servants to Abraham. He also gave his wife Sarah back to him.

<p class="bodytext">So they made a treaty<n id="1" /> at Beer Sheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, returned<n id="2" /> to the land of the Philistines.<n id="3" />

So he<n id="1" /> said to his servants, &#8220;You two stay<n id="2" /> here with the donkey while<n id="3" /> the boy and I go up there. We will worship<n id="4" /> and then return to you.&#8221;<n id="5" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Then Abraham returned to his servants, and they set out together<n id="1" /> for Beer Sheba where Abraham stayed.<n id="2" />p>

But if the woman is not willing to come back with you,<n id="1" /> you will be free<n id="2" /> from this oath of mine. But you must not take my son back there!&#8221;

<p class="bodytext"><v id="(32:1)" /><n id="1" /> Early in the morning Laban kissed<n id="2" /> his grandchildren<n id="3" /> and his daughters goodbye and blessed them. Then Laban left and returned home.<n id="4" />p>

So Jacob<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;Go now and check on<n id="2" /> the welfare<n id="3" /> of your brothers and of the flocks, and bring me word.&#8221; So Jacob<n id="4" /> sent him from the valley of Hebron.p>

So he returned to Judah and said, &#8220;I couldn&#8217;t find her. Moreover, the men of the place said, &#8216;There has been no cult prostitute here.&#8217;&#8221;

But then he drew back his hand, and his brother came out before him.<n id="1" /> She said, &#8220;How you have broken out of the womb!&#8221;<n id="2" /> So he was named Perez.<n id="3" />

He turned away from them and wept. When he turned around and spoke to them again,<n id="1" /> he had Simeon taken<n id="2" /> from them and tied up<n id="3" /> before their eyes.p>
