“But there is hope for ¹  a tree: ²  If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail.

as water wears away stones, and torrents ¹  wash away the soil, ²  so you destroy man’s hope. ³ 

For what hope does the godless have when he is cut off, ¹  when God takes away his life? ² 

for the needy are not permanently ignored, ¹  the hopes of the oppressed are not forever dashed. ² 

Discipline your child, for ¹  there is hope, but do not set your heart ²  on causing his death. ³ 

Likewise, know ¹  that wisdom is sweet ²  to your soul; if you find it, ³  you will have a future, ⁴  and your hope will not be cut off.

“‘When she realized that she waited in vain, her hope was lost. She took another of her cubs ¹  and made him a young lion.

Return to the stronghold, you prisoners, with hope; today I declare that I will return double what was taken from you.

From there I will give back her vineyards to her, and turn the “Valley of Trouble” ¹  into an “Opportunity ²  for Hope.” There she will sing as she did when she was young, ³  when ⁴  she came up from the land of Egypt.
