In the twelfth year of King Ahaz’s reign over Judah, Hoshea son of Elah became king over Israel. He reigned in Samaria ¹  for nine years.

When Ahab died, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

King Hezekiah of Judah sent this message to the king of Assyria, who was at Lachish, “I have violated our treaty. ¹  If you leave, I will do whatever you demand.” ²  So the king of Assyria demanded that King Hezekiah of Judah pay three hundred talents ³  of silver and thirty talents of gold.

So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and went on his way. He went home and stayed in Nineveh. ¹ 

In the fifteenth year of the reign of Judah’s King Amaziah, son of Joash, Jeroboam son of Joash became king over Israel. He reigned for forty-one years in Samaria. ¹ 

Ahaz sent messengers to King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your dependent. ¹  March up and rescue me from the power ²  of the king of Syria and the king of Israel, who have attacked ³  me.”

The king of Assyria discovered that Hoshea was planning a revolt. ¹  Hoshea had sent messengers to King So ²  of Egypt and had not sent his annual tribute to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria arrested him and imprisoned him. ³ 

King Jehoiachin of Judah, along with his mother, his servants, his officials, and his eunuchs surrendered ¹  to the king of Babylon. The king of Babylon, in the eighth year of his reign, ²  took Jehoiachin ³  prisoner.

In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of King Jehoiachin of Judah, on the twenty-seventh ¹  day of the twelfth month, ²  King Evil-Merodach of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, pardoned ³  King Jehoiachin of Judah and released him ⁴  from prison.

When the king of Israel saw them, he asked Elisha, “Should I strike them down, ¹  my master?” ² 

He was thirty-two years old when he became king and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem. ¹ 

During his reign Edom freed themselves from Judah’s control and set up their own king. ¹ 

Ahaziah had become king over Judah in the eleventh year of Joram son of Ahab.

Jehu reigned over Israel for twenty-eight years in Samaria.

Now King Hazael of Syria oppressed Israel throughout Jehoahaz’s reign. ¹ 

When King Hazael of Syria died, his son Ben Hadad replaced him as king.

King Shalmaneser of Assyria threatened ¹  him; Hoshea became his subject and paid him tribute.

The king of Assyria marched through ¹  the whole land. He attacked Samaria and besieged it for three years.

Have any of the gods of the nations actually rescued his land from the power of the king of Assyria? ¹ 

Where are the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, and the king of Lair, ¹  Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?’”
