<t /><p class="bodytext">So Jacob went on his way and the angels of God<n id="1" /> met him.

Then God went up from the place<n id="1" /> where he spoke with him.

<p class="bodytext">But God heard the boy&#8217;s voice.<n id="1" /> The angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and asked her, &#8220;What is the matter,<n id="2" /> Hagar? Don&#8217;t be afraid, for God has heard<n id="3" /> the boy&#8217;s voice right where he is crying.

<p class="bodytext">God said, &#8220;Let there be an expanse<n id="1" /> in the midst of the waters and let it separate water<n id="2" /> from water.

God called the expanse &#8220;sky.&#8221;<n id="1" /> There was evening, and there was morning, a second day.p>

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> God planted an orchard<n id="1" /> in the east,<n id="2" /> in Eden;<n id="3" /> and there he placed the man he had formed.<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> God took the man and placed<n id="1" /> him in the orchard in<n id="2" /> Eden to care for it and to maintain it.<n id="3" />

Then the <sc>Lordsc> God commanded<n id="1" /> the man, &#8220;You may freely eat<n id="2" /> fruit<n id="3" /> from every tree of the orchard,

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> God said, &#8220;It is not good for the man to be alone.<n id="1" /> I will make a companion<n id="2" /> for him who corresponds to him.&#8221;<n id="3" />

So the <sc>Lordsc> God said to the woman, &#8220;What is this<n id="1" /> you have done?&#8221; And the woman replied, &#8220;The serpent<n id="2" /> tricked<n id="3" /> me, and I ate.&#8221;p>

So the <sc>Lordsc> God expelled him<n id="1" /> from the orchard in Eden to cultivate the ground from which he had been taken.

Enoch walked with God, and then he disappeared<n id="1" /> because God took<n id="2" /> him away.p>

<p class="bodytext">And Noah did all<n id="1" /> that God commanded him &#8211; he did indeed.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">&#8220;Whoever sheds human blood,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">by other humans<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">must his blood be shed;p> <p class="poetry">for in God&#8217;s image<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">God<n id="4" /> has made humankind.&#8221;p>

<p class="poetry">May God enlarge Japheth&#8217;s territory and numbers!<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">May he live<n id="2" /> in the tents of Shemp> <p class="poetry">and may Canaan be his slave!&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">Then God said to Abraham, &#8220;As for you, you must keep<n id="1" /> the covenantal requirement<n id="2" /> I am imposing on you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.

<p class="bodytext">Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, as well as his wife and female slaves so that they were able to have children.

So Sarah became pregnant<n id="1" /> and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the appointed time that God had told him.
