If you do this thing, and God so commands you,<n id="1" /> then you will be able<n id="2" /> to endure,<n id="3" /> and all these people<n id="4" /> will be able to go<n id="5" /> home<n id="6" /> satisfied.&#8221;<n id="7" />p>

They said to Moses, &#8220;You speak<n id="1" /> to us and we will listen, but do not let God speak with us, lest we die.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Pay attention to do<n id="1" /> everything I have told you, and do not even mention<n id="2" /> the names of other gods &#8211; do not let them be heard on your lips.<n id="3" />p>

But you choose<n id="1" /> from the people capable men,<n id="2" /> God-fearing,<n id="3" /> men of truth,<n id="4" /> those who hate bribes,<n id="5" /> and put them over the people<n id="6" /> as rulers<n id="7" /> of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

They said to me, &#8216;Make us gods that will go before us, for as for this fellow Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him.&#8217;

In all cases of illegal possessions,<n id="1" /> whether for an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any kind of lost item, about which someone says &#8216;This belongs to me,&#8217;<n id="2" /> the matter of the two of them will come before the judges,<n id="3" /> and the one whom<n id="4" /> the judges declare guilty<n id="5" /> must repay double to his neighbor.

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">When the people saw that Moses delayed<n id="2" /> in coming down<n id="3" /> from the mountain, they<n id="4" /> gathered around Aaron and said to him, &#8220;Get up,<n id="5" /> make us gods<n id="6" /> that will go before us. As for this fellow Moses,<n id="7" /> the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what<n id="8" /> has become of him!&#8221;p>
