<t /><p class="bodytext">The other half of Manasseh,<n id="1" /> Reuben, and Gad received their allotted tribal lands beyond the Jordan,<n id="2" /> just as Moses, the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s servant, had assigned them.

The border of the tribe of Reuben was the Jordan. The land allotted to the tribe of Reuben by its clans included these cities and their towns.<n id="1" />p>

Their border touched Tabor, Shahazumah, and Beth Shemesh, and ended at the Jordan. They had sixteen cities and their towns.

Their border started at Heleph and the oak of Zaanannim, went to Adami Nekeb, Jabneel and on to Lakkum,<n id="1" /> and ended at the Jordan River.<n id="2" />

It turned westward to Aznoth Tabor, extended from there to Hukok, touched Zebulun on the south, Asher on the west, and the Jordan<n id="1" /> on the east.

Then I brought you to the land of the Amorites who lived east of the Jordan. They fought with you, but I handed them over to you; you conquered<n id="1" /> their land and I destroyed them from before you.

<p class="bodytext">When all the Amorite kings on the west side of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings along the seacoast heard how the <sc>Lordsc> had dried up the water of the Jordan before the Israelites while they<n id="1" /> crossed, they lost their courage and could not even breathe for fear of the Israelites.<n id="2" />p>

&#8220;Moses my servant is dead. Get ready!<n id="1" /> Cross the Jordan River!<n id="2" /> Lead these people into the land which I am ready to hand over to them.<n id="3" />

&#8220;Go through the camp and command the people, &#8216;Prepare your supplies, for within three days you will cross the Jordan River and begin the conquest of the land the <sc>Lordsc> your God is ready to hand over to you.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

Your wives, children and cattle may stay in the land that Moses assigned to you east of the Jordan River. But all you warriors must cross over armed for battle ahead of your brothers.<n id="1" /> You must help them

For we heard how the <sc>Lordsc> dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you left Egypt and how you annihilated the two Amorite kings, Sihon and Og, on the other side of the Jordan.<n id="1" />

When the ones carrying the ark reached the Jordan and the feet of the priests carrying the ark touched the surface<n id="1" /> of the water &#8211; (the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest time)<n id="2" /> &#8211;

Instruct them, &#8216;Pick up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from the very place where the priests<n id="1" /> stand firmly, and carry them over with you and put them in the place where you camp tonight.&#8217;&#8221;p>

Joshua told them, &#8220;Go in front of the ark of the <sc>Lordsc> your God to the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to put a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the Israelite tribes.

<p class="bodytext">The Israelites did just as Joshua commanded. They picked up twelve stones, according to the number of the Israelite tribes, from the middle of the Jordan as the <sc>Lordsc> had instructed Joshua. They carried them over with them to the camp and put them there.

Joshua also set up twelve stones<n id="1" /> in the middle of the Jordan in the very place where the priests carrying the ark of the covenant stood. They remain there to this very day.p>

<p class="bodytext">Now the priests carrying the ark of the covenant were standing in the middle of the Jordan until everything the Lord had commanded Joshua to tell the people was accomplished, in accordance with all that Moses had commanded Joshua. The people went across quickly,

For the <sc>Lordsc> your God dried up the water of the Jordan before you while you crossed over. It was just like when the <sc>Lordsc> your God dried up the Red Sea before us while we crossed it.<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">When the news reached all the kings on the west side of the Jordan<n id="1" /> &#8211; in the hill country, the lowlands,<n id="2" /> and all along the Mediterranean coast<n id="3" /> as far as<n id="4" /> Lebanon (including the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites) &#8211;

<p class="bodytext">Now these are the kings of the land whom the Israelites defeated and drove from their land<n id="1" /> on the east side of the Jordan,<n id="2" /> from the Arnon Valley to Mount Hermon, including all the eastern Arabah:p>
