And the <sc>Lordsc> did this<n id="1" /> on the next day;<n id="2" /> all<n id="3" /> the livestock of the Egyptians<n id="4" /> died, but of the Israelites&#8217; livestock not one died.

So now, forgive my sin this time only, and pray to the <sc>Lordsc> your God that he would only<n id="1" /> take this death<n id="2" /> away from me.&#8221;

Tell the whole community of Israel, &#8216;In the tenth day of this month they each<n id="1" /> must take a lamb<n id="2" /> for themselves according to their families<n id="3" /> &#8211; a lamb for each household.<n id="4" />

You must care for it<n id="1" /> until the fourteenth day of this month, and then the whole community<n id="2" /> of Israel will kill it around sundown.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">This day will become<n id="1" /> a memorial<n id="2" /> for you, and you will celebrate it as a festival<n id="3" /> to the <sc>Lordsc> &#8211; you will celebrate it perpetually as a lasting ordinance.<n id="4" />

At the end of the 430 years, on the very day, all the regiments<n id="1" /> of the <sc>Lordsc> went out of the land of Egypt.

It was a night of vigil for the <sc>Lordsc> to bring them out from the land of Egypt,<n id="1" /> and so<n id="2" /> on this night all Israel is to keep the vigil<n id="3" /> to the <sc>Lordsc> for generations to come.p>

And on this very day the <sc>Lordsc> brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their regiments.p>

You will surely wear out,<n id="1" /> both you and these people who are with you, for this is too<n id="2" /> heavy a burden<n id="3" /> for you; you are not able to do it by yourself.

<p class="bodytext">Then the <sc>Lordsc> said to Moses: &#8220;I have seen this people.<n id="1" /> Look<n id="2" /> what a stiff-necked people they are!<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">Moses said to Aaron, &#8220;What did this people do to you, that you have brought on them so great a sin?&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">So Moses returned to the <sc>Lordsc> and said, &#8220;Alas, this people has committed a very serious sin,<n id="1" /> and they have made for themselves gods of gold.

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> said to Moses, &#8220;I will do this thing also that you have requested, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know<n id="1" /> you by name.&#8221;p>

When Pharaoh heard<n id="1" /> about this event,<n id="2" /> he sought to kill Moses. So Moses fled<n id="3" /> from Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian,<n id="4" /> and he settled<n id="5" /> by a certain well.<n id="6" />p>

He replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Surely I will be with you,<n id="2" /> and this will be the sign<n id="3" /> to you that I have sent you: When you bring the people out of Egypt, you and they will serve<n id="4" /> God on this mountain.&#8221;p>

They will fill your houses, the houses of your servants, and all the houses of Egypt, such as<n id="1" /> neither<n id="2" /> your fathers nor your grandfathers have seen since they have been<n id="3" /> in the land until this day!&#8217;&#8221; Then Moses<n id="4" /> turned and went out from Pharaoh.p>

<p class="bodytext">I will pass through<n id="1" /> the land of Egypt in the same<n id="2" /> night, and I will attack<n id="3" /> all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both of humans and of animals,<n id="4" /> and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment.<n id="5" /> I am the <sc>Lordsc>.

<p class="bodytext">Moses said to the people, &#8220;Remember<n id="1" /> this day on which you came out from Egypt, from the place where you were enslaved,<n id="2" /> for the <sc>Lordsc> brought you out of there<n id="3" /> with a mighty hand &#8211; and no bread made with yeast may be eaten.<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">When<n id="1" /> the <sc>Lordsc> brings you to the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey,<n id="2" /> then you will keep<n id="3" /> this ceremony<n id="4" /> in this month.

When Moses&#8217; father-in-law saw all that he was doing for the people, he said, &#8220;What is this<n id="1" /> that you are doing for the people?<n id="2" /> Why are you sitting by yourself, and all the people stand around you from morning until evening?&#8221;p>
