<t /><p class="bodytext">So I instructed you at that time regarding everything you should do.

I say this<n id="1" /> so you will not corrupt yourselves by making an image in the form of any kind of figure. This includes the likeness of a human male or female,

<t /><p class="bodytext">You must love the <sc>Lordsc> your God and do what he requires; keep his statutes, ordinances, and commandments<n id="1" /> at all times.

I am speaking to you<n id="1" /> because you are the ones who saw all the great deeds of the <sc>Lordsc>!p>

then he<n id="1" /> will drive out all these nations ahead of you, and you will dispossess nations greater and stronger than you.

Be certain to keep all the statutes and ordinances that I am presenting to you today.p>

You must not do like we are doing here today, with everyone<n id="1" /> doing what seems best to him,

Be careful not to overlook the Levites as long as you live in the land.p>

These you may eat from among water creatures: anything with fins and scales you may eat,

<t /><p class="bodytext">You must be certain to tithe<n id="1" /> all the produce of your seed that comes from the field year after year.

At the end of every three years you must bring all the tithe of your produce, in that very year, and you must store it up in your villages.

The <sc>Lordsc> your God will deliver it over to you<n id="1" /> and you must kill every single male by the sword.

You must not seek peace and prosperity for them through all the ages to come.

<t /><p class="bodytext">You must not charge interest on a loan to your fellow Israelite,<n id="1" /> whether on money, food, or anything else that has been loaned with interest.

You must inscribe on the stones all the words of this law, making them clear.&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;The Levites will call out to every Israelite<n id="1" /> with a loud voice:

&#8216;Cursed is the one who perverts justice for the resident foreigner, the orphan, and the widow.&#8217; Then all the people will say, &#8216;Amen!&#8217;

&#8216;Cursed is the one who takes a bribe to kill an innocent person.&#8217; Then all the people will say, &#8216;Amen!&#8217;
