<p class="bodytext">Then Rebekah and her female servants mounted the camels and rode away with<n id="1" /> the man. So Abraham&#8217;s servant<n id="2" /> took Rebekah and left.p>

Then Isaac brought Rebekah<n id="1" /> into his mother Sarah&#8217;s tent. He took her<n id="2" /> as his wife and loved her.<n id="3" /> So Isaac was comforted after his mother&#8217;s death.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="bodytext">When<n id="1" /> Esau was forty years old,<n id="2" /> he married<n id="3" /> Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, as well as Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite.

So Esau went to Ishmael and married<n id="1" /> Mahalath, the sister of Nebaioth and daughter of Abraham&#8217;s son Ishmael, along with the wives he already had.p>

He reached a certain place<n id="1" /> where he decided to camp because the sun had gone down.<n id="2" /> He took one of the stones<n id="3" /> and placed it near his head.<n id="4" /> Then he fell asleep<n id="5" /> in that place

<p class="bodytext">Early<n id="1" /> in the morning Jacob<n id="2" /> took the stone he had placed near his head<n id="3" /> and set it up as a sacred stone.<n id="4" /> Then he poured oil on top of it.

<p class="bodytext">But Jacob took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond, and plane trees. He made white streaks by peeling them, making the white inner wood in the branches visible.

So he took his relatives<n id="1" /> with him and pursued Jacob<n id="2" /> for seven days.<n id="3" /> He caught up with<n id="4" /> him in the hill country of Gilead.

Please take my present<n id="1" /> that was brought to you, for God has been generous<n id="2" /> to me and I have all I need.&#8221;<n id="3" /> When Jacob urged him, he took it.<n id="4" />p>

When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, who ruled that area, saw her, he grabbed her, forced himself on her,<n id="1" /> and sexually assaulted her.<n id="2" />

Joseph&#8217;s master took him and threw him into the prison,<n id="1" /> the place where the king&#8217;s prisoners were confined. So he was there in the prison.<n id="2" />p>

He turned away from them and wept. When he turned around and spoke to them again,<n id="1" /> he had Simeon taken<n id="2" /> from them and tied up<n id="3" /> before their eyes.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">After these things Joseph was told,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Your father is weakening.&#8221; So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim with him.

Joseph positioned them;<n id="1" /> he put Ephraim on his right hand across from Israel&#8217;s left hand, and Manasseh on his left hand across from Israel&#8217;s right hand. Then Joseph brought them closer to his father.<n id="2" />

Shem and Japheth took the garment<n id="1" /> and placed it on their shoulders. Then they walked in backwards and covered up their father&#8217;s nakedness. Their faces were turned<n id="2" /> the other way so they did not see their father&#8217;s nakedness.p>

And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram&#8217;s wife was Sarai,<n id="1" /> and the name of Nahor&#8217;s wife was Milcah;<n id="2" /> she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milcah and Iscah.

<p class="bodytext">Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot (the son of Haran), and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram&#8217;s wife, and with them he set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. When they came to Haran, they settled there.

And Abram took his wife Sarai, his nephew<n id="1" /> Lot, and all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired<n id="2" /> in Haran, and they left for<n id="3" /> the land of Canaan. They entered the land of Canaan.p>

<p class="bodytext">Abraham took his son Ishmael and every male in his household (whether born in his house or bought with money)<n id="1" /> and circumcised them<n id="2" /> on that very same day, just as God had told him to do.

<p class="bodytext">Early in the morning Abraham took<n id="1" /> some food<n id="2" /> and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He put them on her shoulders, gave her the child,<n id="3" /> and sent her away. So she went wandering<n id="4" /> aimlessly through the wilderness<n id="5" /> of Beer Sheba.
