So he gave orders to have them baptized ¹  in the name of Jesus Christ. ²  Then they asked him to stay for several days.

Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, arrived in Ephesus. ¹  He was an eloquent speaker, ²  well-versed ³  in the scriptures.

And now what are you waiting for? ¹  Get up, ²  be baptized, and have your sins washed away, ³  calling on his name.’ ⁴ 

After ¹  making Peter and John ²  stand in their midst, they began to inquire, “By what power or by what name ³  did you do this?”

For a man named Demetrius, a silversmith who made silver shrines ¹  of Artemis, ²  brought a great deal ³  of business ⁴  to the craftsmen.

Of course, ¹  I myself was convinced ²  that it was necessary to do many things hostile to the name of Jesus the Nazarene.

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among people ¹  by which we must ²  be saved.”

But to keep this matter from spreading any further among the people, let us warn them to speak no more ¹  to anyone in this name.”

Now there was a disciple in Damascus named Ananias. The ¹  Lord ²  said to him in a vision, “Ananias,” and he replied, “Here I am, ³  Lord.”

and he has seen in a vision ¹  a man named Ananias come in and place his hands on him so that he may see again.”

Now in Joppa ¹  there was a disciple named Tabitha (which in translation means ²  Dorcas). ³  She was continually doing good deeds and acts of charity. ⁴ 

When they had crossed over ¹  the whole island as far as Paphos, ²  they found a magician, a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus, ³ 

But the magician Elymas ¹  (for that is the way his name is translated) ²  opposed them, trying to turn the proconsul ³  away from the faith.

so that the rest of humanity ¹  may seek the Lord, namely, ²  all the Gentiles ³  I have called to be my own,’ ⁴  says the Lord, ⁵  who makes these things

But some people ¹  joined him ²  and believed. Among them ³  were Dionysius, who was a member of the Areopagus, ⁴  a woman ⁵  named Damaris, and others with them.

but since it concerns points of disagreement ¹  about words and names and your own law, settle ²  it yourselves. I will not be ³  a judge of these things!”

This became known to all who lived in Ephesus, ¹  both Jews and Greeks; fear came over ²  them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was praised. ³ 

When it was decided we ¹  would sail to Italy, ²  they handed over Paul and some other prisoners to a centurion ³  of the Augustan Cohort ⁴  named Julius.

But the Lord said to him, “Go, because this man is my chosen instrument ¹  to carry my name before Gentiles and kings and the people of Israel. ² 

Now in that city was a man named Simon, who had been practicing magic ¹  and amazing the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great.
