For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, ¹  but you received the Spirit of adoption, ²  by whom ³  we cry, “Abba, Father.”

From Paul, ¹  a slave ²  of Christ Jesus, ³  called to be an apostle, ⁴  set apart for the gospel of God. ⁵ 

but ¹  wrath and anger to those who live in selfish ambition ²  and do not obey the truth but follow ³  unrighteousness.

What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, ¹  has discovered regarding this matter? ² 

even us, whom he has called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?

For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness ¹  and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation. ² 

So in the same way at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

Owe no one anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother who was also a mother to me. ¹ 

who was appointed the Son-of-God-in-power ¹  according to the Holy Spirit ²  by the resurrection ³  from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Through him ¹  we have received grace and our apostleship ²  to bring about the obedience ³  of faith ⁴  among all the Gentiles on behalf of his name.

To all those loved by God in Rome, ¹  called to be saints: ²  Grace and peace to you ³  from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

But if our unrighteousness demonstrates ¹  the righteousness of God, what shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is he? ²  (I am speaking in human terms.) ³ 

And we know that all things work together ¹  for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,

because those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that his Son ¹  would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. ² 

And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.

And what if he is willing to make known the wealth of his glory on the objects ¹  of mercy that he has prepared beforehand for glory –

Just ¹  as Isaiah predicted, “If the Lord of armies ²  had not left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom, and we would have resembled Gomorrah.” ³ 

And we have different gifts ¹  according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith.

and likewise the men also abandoned natural relations with women ¹  and were inflamed in their passions ²  for one another. Men ³  committed shameless acts with men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
