There you will worship gods made by human hands – wood and stone that can neither see, hear, eat, nor smell.

you must say to them, ¹  “We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt in a powerful way. ² 

For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awesome God who is unbiased and takes no bribe,

He is the one you should praise; ¹  he is your God, the one who has done these great and awesome things for you that you have seen.

then both parties to the controversy must stand before the Lord, that is, before the priests and judges ¹  who will be in office in those days.

The Lord will cause your enemies who attack ¹  you to be struck down before you; they will attack you from one direction ²  but flee from you in seven different directions.
