That is why ¹  I did not presume ²  to come to you. Instead, say the word, and my servant must be healed. ³ 

“Now the parable means ¹  this: The seed is the word of God.

Those along the path are the ones who have heard; then the devil ¹  comes and takes away the word ²  from their hearts, so that they may not believe ³  and be saved.

Those ¹  on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, ²  but ³  in a time of testing ⁴  fall away. ⁵ 

As for the seed that ¹  fell among thorns, these are the ones who hear, but ²  as they go on their way they are choked ³  by the worries and riches and pleasures of life, ⁴  and their fruit does not mature. ⁵ 

But as for the seed that landed on good soil, these are the ones who, after hearing ¹  the word, cling to it ²  with an honest and good ³  heart, and bear fruit with steadfast endurance. ⁴ 

But he replied ¹  to them, “My mother and my brothers are those ²  who hear the word of God and do it.” ³ 

As ¹  Jesus ²  stepped ashore, ³  a certain man from the town ⁴  met him who was possessed by demons. ⁵  For a long time this man ⁶  had worn no clothes and had not lived in a house, but among ⁷  the tombs.

For what does it benefit a person ¹  if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?

For whoever is ashamed ¹  of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person ²  when he comes in his glory and in the glory ³  of the Father and of the holy angels.

“Take these words to heart, ¹  for the Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.” ² 

He ¹  said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest ²  to send out ³  workers into his harvest.

Stay ¹  in that same house, eating and drinking what they give you, ²  for the worker deserves his pay. ³  Do not move around from house to house.

But Martha was distracted ¹  with all the preparations she had to make, ²  so ³  she came up to him and said, “Lord, don’t you care ⁴  that my sister has left me to do all the work ⁵  alone? Tell ⁶  her to help me.”

But the Lord ¹  answered her, ²  “Martha, Martha, ³  you are worried and troubled ⁴  about many things,

Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and live there, so ¹  the last state of that person ²  is worse than the first.” ³ 

But he replied, ¹  “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey ²  it!”

so that this generation may be held accountable ¹  for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning ²  of the world, ³ 

And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the person who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit ¹  will not be forgiven. ² 

But when they bring you before the synagogues, ¹  the ²  rulers, and the authorities, do not worry about how you should make your defense ³  or what you should say,
