Abraham ¹  planted a tamarisk tree ²  in Beer Sheba. There he worshiped the Lord, ³  the eternal God.

But since you abandoned me and worshiped ¹  other gods, I will not deliver you again.

Solomon worshiped ¹  the Sidonian goddess Astarte and the detestable Ammonite god Milcom. ² 

They worshiped ¹  the disgusting idols ²  in blatant disregard of the Lord’s command. ³ 

They took the Canaanites’ daughters as wives and gave their daughters to the Canaanites; ¹  they worshiped ²  their gods as well.
