<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, &#8220;How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!&#8221;

Jesus looked at them and replied, &#8220;This is impossible for mere humans,<n id="1" /> but not for God; all things are possible for God.&#8221;p>

They said to him, &#8220;Permit one of us to sit at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.&#8221;

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom<n id="1" /> for many.&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> as they approached Jerusalem,<n id="2" /> near Bethphage<n id="3" /> and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives,<n id="4" /> Jesus<n id="5" /> sent two of his disciples

and said, &#8220;By what authority<n id="1" /> are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?&#8221;

Jesus said to them, &#8220;I will ask you one question. Answer me and I will tell you by what authority I do these things:

But those tenants said to one another, &#8216;This is the heir. Come, let&#8217;s kill him and the inheritance will be ours!&#8217;

Then Jesus said to them, &#8220;Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar&#8217;s, and to God the things that are God&#8217;s.&#8221;<n id="1" /> And they were utterly amazed at him.p>

Jesus said to them, &#8220;Aren&#8217;t you deceived<n id="1" /> for this reason, because you don&#8217;t know the scriptures or the power of God?

<t /><p class="bodytext">In his teaching Jesus<n id="1" /> also said, &#8220;Watch out for the experts in the law.<n id="2" /> They like walking<n id="3" /> around in long robes and elaborate greetings<n id="4" /> in the marketplaces,

Jesus said to him, &#8220;Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left on another.<n id="1" /> All will be torn down!&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;You must watch out for yourselves. You will be handed over<n id="1" /> to councils<n id="2" /> and beaten in the synagogues.<n id="3" /> You will stand before governors and kings<n id="4" /> because of me, as a witness to them.

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;But in those days, after that suffering,<n id="1" /> <i>the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light;i>

Then he will send angels and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.<n id="1" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the chief priests and the experts in the law<n id="1" /> were trying to find a way<n id="2" /> to arrest Jesus<n id="3" /> by stealth and kill him.

For you will always have the poor with you, and you can do good for them whenever you want. But you will not always have me!<n id="1" />

So<n id="1" /> the disciples left, went<n id="2" /> into the city, and found things just as he had told them,<n id="3" /> and they prepared the Passover.p>

While they were at the table<n id="1" /> eating, Jesus said, &#8220;I tell you the truth,<n id="2" /> one of you eating with me will betray me.&#8221;<n id="3" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus said to them, &#8220;You will all fall away, for it is written,p> <p class="otpoetry">&#8216;<b><i>I will strike the shepherd,i>b>p> <p class="otpoetry"><i><b>and the sheep will be scatteredb>.i>&#8217;<n id="2" />p>
