Now this is the basis for judging:<n id="1" /> that the light has come into the world and people<n id="2" /> loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.

So they came to John and said to him, &#8220;Rabbi, the one who was with you on the other side of the Jordan River,<n id="1" /> about whom you testified &#8211; see, he is baptizing, and everyone is flocking to him!&#8221;p>

The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands by and listens for him, rejoices greatly<n id="1" /> when he hears the bridegroom&#8217;s voice. This then is my joy, and it is complete.<n id="2" />

The one who believes in the Son has eternal life. The one who rejects<n id="1" /> the Son will not see life, but God&#8217;s wrath<n id="2" /> remains<n id="3" /> on him.p>

Surely you&#8217;re not greater than our ancestor<n id="1" /> Jacob, are you? For he gave us this well and drank from it himself, along with his sons and his livestock.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

But whoever drinks some of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again,<n id="1" /> but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain<n id="2" /> of water springing up<n id="3" /> to eternal life.&#8221;

But a time<n id="1" /> is coming &#8211; and now is here<n id="2" /> &#8211; when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks<n id="3" /> such people to be<n id="4" /> his worshipers.<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now at that very moment his disciples came back.<n id="1" /> They were shocked<n id="2" /> because he was speaking<n id="3" /> with a woman. However, no one said, &#8220;What do you want?&#8221;<n id="4" /> or &#8220;Why are you speaking with her?&#8221;

So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him because they had seen all the things he had done in Jerusalem<n id="1" /> at the feast<n id="2" /> (for they themselves had gone to the feast).<n id="3" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now he came again to Cana<n id="1" /> in Galilee where he had made the water wine.<n id="2" /> In<n id="3" /> Capernaum<n id="4" /> there was a certain royal official<n id="5" /> whose son was sick.

Then the father realized that it was the very time<n id="1" /> Jesus had said to him, &#8220;Your son will live,&#8221; and he himself believed along with his entire household.

The sick man answered him, &#8220;Sir,<n id="1" /> I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I am trying to get into the water,<n id="2" /> someone else<n id="3" /> goes down there<n id="4" /> before me.&#8221;

so that all people<n id="1" /> will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;I tell you the solemn truth,<n id="1" /> the one who hears<n id="2" /> my message<n id="3" /> and believes the one who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned,<n id="4" /> but has crossed over from death to life.

I tell you the solemn truth,<n id="1" /> a time<n id="2" /> is coming &#8211; and is now here &#8211; when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.

Then Jesus, when he looked up<n id="1" /> and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, said to Philip, &#8220;Where can we buy bread so that these people may eat?&#8221;

Do not work for the food that disappears,<n id="1" /> but for the food that remains to eternal life &#8211; the food<n id="2" /> which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has put his seal of approval on him.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Then Jesus told them, &#8220;I tell you the solemn truth,<n id="1" /> it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but my Father is giving you the true bread from heaven.

So Jesus&#8217; brothers<n id="1" /> advised him, &#8220;Leave here and go to Judea so your disciples may see your miracles that you are performing.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Then the Jewish leaders<n id="1" /> said to one another, &#8220;Where is he<n id="2" /> going to go that we cannot find him?<n id="3" /> He is not going to go to the Jewish people dispersed<n id="4" /> among the Greeks and teach the Greeks, is he?<n id="5" />
